The Winchester Model 1876 / Re: This business of rim thickness
« Last post by Oregon Bill on Today at 07:13:05 AM »
Looks like Roosterman has a similar issue with the .50 Alaskan rims in his '76. If and when I can drag a .50-95 to my house, I will test with cases made from Starline .50 Alaskan, the WW .348, and the Bell 50-90 and report.

Garretts are great carbines. Best bet is to go over to the N-SSA website, www.N-SSA.org, and search the bulletin board. Lots of us shoot them in skirmishes and you'll find most of your questions answered there. Also, check Hahn Machine, http://hahnmachineworks.com/index.html. Charlie Hahn specializes in getting Sharps repros and originals shooting their best.

"Main goal is to use up that Pyrodex"

Just use it as ice melt or traction on the sidewalks this winter. I can't say whether or not it's any good for such but it's definitely a better way of disposing of it than shooting it in your guns.

It's not bad as fertilizer.

The Darksider's Den / Garrett Sharps carbine
« Last post by smittyc7 on Yesterday at 08:54:01 PM »
I have a .54 cal Garrett Sharps and I would like to live fire it.  Is there a recommended bullet to use? I've never fired it, I picked it up from one of my civil war reenacting buddies when he was getting out of the hobby.  I am assuming it uses a 55 grain load?  Any help would be appreciated.

Be sure and clean your pistol again tomorrow and maybe Monday.  It will be rusty by tomorrow.

Thanks Johnny, I couldn't post these myself. What a range. At night when it's quiet you can hear the bangos playing!
