I may go to Fredrickburg but won't have the time to shoot because of the 4 letter word, that starts with "w"

11 Brave souls braved the wilds of West Point ;D today!

We got sprinkled during the second half of the day and heard weather around us but otherwise had a nice shoot.

My 1866 did ok but I will defintely be going to a craft store to get a dowel to push the cartridges in the whole way - when I do that the rifle does it's job.  It was sticky enoughwith only using an extra cartridge to push ammo in that I switched to my 38spl rifle for the last three stages and had no issues at all when I did my job.

I did have a first - I got a minor safety for a life round left in the carrier -c'est la vie!

I did shoot cartridge due to the threat of rain...

Hope to shoot with the rest of you soon!

Glad you had fun today PR.
I'm gonna pass on shootin' at Pepper Mill Creek tomorrow.  It has been raining all day and the threat of rain is for all day tomorrow.
That range has a tendency to turn into a swamp fairly easily.  I hear work is progressing real slowly on the new Action Pistol ranges where the SASS shooting would move to.  Maybe we can get in there by the fall...... >:( :( >:( :(

The rain during the day here was light. After dark was a different story. Got some loading done today.

Hope to see the action range soon at NVGC.

I am surprized at the light turn out at West Point today, rain or not.

I think the forecast of heavy T-storms and lightning throughout the day probably kept people away. :(

When I looked at the forecast more closely i saw really two short periods of rain and otherwise overcast only...which is why i headed up :D

We got through three stages with really nothing but overcast conditions and then we did get some light rain.  Once we finished and went to Nick's for late lunch we did get a couple heavier bands but nothing to write home about.

Late last night we did finally get hammered with weather and it looks like we will get more today.

I did shoot the whole match with my trusty 10 gauge gun shoulder fired artillery piece - it drew lots of smiles and comments.

The light rain did make the smoke hang quite a bit on later stages - a few of us were definitely doing the "where is my target dance" ;D

Fun was had by all - hope shoot with nore of you at Sussex and BRR in a few weeks.

I got my new 140 grain 38spl bullets from Springfiled Slim!  They look awesome and almost appear to be minature versions of my old 158 grain 38spl bullets.

Will load some up this week and let you know how it goes...

Got my two mockups done and oal/sized correctly

140 grain bullets will be loaded over next couple nights and tested first in my conversion pistols and then in the rifle.

If they work in both it will turn into my only 38spl round - if not then i will load 158 snakebites for the rifle and the 140's for the pistol.

Thanks Springfield Slim!

Looking forward to getting some trigger time at the Waverly April match.  I've not shot a match since December and I really want to get a run in before BRR.  Thinking I be shootin' the RVs as I not sure what the rules are about shootin' C&B in the FCGF category.  I'll get some time after BRR to work with the 1860s.  Then I can use them for the Smoke on the Mattiponi in May.

BRR is a comin'  YEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAA

The back has been doing much better.   I'm really lookin forward to makin some Smoke, Fire, BOOOOOOOM and Stink.  By the end of this weekend I will have every bit of brass, both 45 and 12 in the house loaded.  I won't mention how much that is <big brother may be listening> but I can shoot for the next 6 months and not have to reload anything.  I NEED SOME TRIGGER TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found a place in Winchester, Va that sells cowboy era scopes for the rifles.   Brush Creek Armory.  They sure do look purdy.  Not sure they would be legal in side matches but they would be fun to mount on a couple of my 45-70 for hunting.

BRR - Here we come - can't wait to share the experience with my daughter Sarah!

Shooting on the 7th and then clean-up and get ready for BRR.

I will be home most of this weekend so Looks like I should get a goodly amount of reloading in - especially since I caught up with my family chores last night.  I am set to load another 400 or so 38's and then I have about 16 10 gauge shells to reload.

The new 140 grainers, from Springfield Slim, I am trying out are ones I am using as i try to find the right bullet for my two sets of converted 1851 Navy C&B's - their cylinders are much shorter than the OT 38 spl cylinders and I was running low on my older 38spl round using the old 158 grain lyman that are just short enough.

I love the 158 Snakebite bullet but it is so long that it does not work well in the conversion cylinders.

So, hopefully I will get a chance to try them out at Waverly, then as I finally run out of the rounds loaded with the 158 grain bullets I will just switch.
