Well, we moved in December and I am finally getting the last of the garage finished up. Before we moved I had all the parts for a new AR15 build, but once we had moved could not find the lower! Finally got fed up looking so went and picked up one. Went to get all the stuff together....and, yup....found the lower.

Well, now you just have to get another upper, and other parts. But since it's an AR, you can make it nothing like the first one.

Well, I bought these a couple months ago but just got around getting the pumps out for a pic.  I doubled my 1897 shotgun collection in about 4 days, from 2 to 4.   I had a Cimarron gun from when they first bought out TTN, and a 30" full choke solid frame Winchester that I picked up a couple years ago.  So, an email goes out to all the members of one of the larger CAS clubs around here stating that a certain dealer was having health problems and wanting to get out of the business and there was an attachment with a bunch of modern guns listed (he started out his pricing at 5% above his cost), but the email said that he also had a NIB IAC '97 for $300.  I called him immediately and said I'd take it.  A few days later when I went to do the deal I see it is a CB prefix, which is the very best of the Chinchesters.  Very smooth!  I don't think he knew the value of that one, even though he's a dealer.  Anyway, it got shot for the very first time in the Wild Bunch side match at Comancheria Days, and I've done another 4 or 5 cowboy matches with it just to play with it, though I'm more of a SxS guy.  Well, a pard from another club was set up at Comancheria Days selling some stuff, and I bought a takedown '97 made in 1911 from him for $400.  It has been refinished at some point and is in great shape except for one large scratch on the barrel, plus the takedown sleeve (or whatever it's called) had gouge marks on it like somebody used channel locks on it.  I know people talk about needing spares when you shoot a '97.  I think I'm set with that for a while.  :)

I lined them up by barrel length for the photo.  1911/12 30" on left, then 24" takedown also from 1911, then the 20" "TTN" (Cimarron / Polytech), then on the right the new 20" IAC Cowboy '97.

Nice collection Abilene, nothing wrong in having a spare spare. I understand that in order to get it to run right you operate a ‘97 like your mad at it but you must be awfully hard on your ‘97s if you need 3 backups! I only have 2, a misnumbered Winchester and a norinco trench. I am able to use Marlins so my primary [club match] sg is a Model 24 12 ga though yesterday I shot a Model 30 in 20 gauge. Shoots like a rifle.

I won't chance Gunbroker anymore, because of the scammers... >:(
I know a fellow who was ripped off in a purchase.
Paid for the purchase, and never received it, and no response from miserable THIEF SOB
Gun Broker offered "O , nada , nothing in support.
That said, that leaves only my FFL's LGS  and or face to face deals.
That said, I was perusing Cabela's Gun Library, just on a lark, just window shopping.

I have short list of guns I'd like to have... low and behold on page 39 (out of 46 ) in the Center Fire handguns listings

A S&W Model 1917 in very nice condition  I figure it sold , but a call @ 10AM this morning to the Omaha Cabela's showed it was available.
Several inquiries but no cash holds....
I used my Cabela bucks , and now it is mine

All numbers match and the grips are numbered to it as well , finish is 85% ,ordnance bomb acceptance mark
45 ACP  or Auto Rim , which I already load

Traded for a Springfield Trapdoor yesterday. Cut down but the bore looks pretty good.

Amazingly, I found a Lee Loader for 45-70 and 80 once fired cases! A local fellow set me up with 200 primers. Now I just have to get some black powder and boolits! Even found out that Dixie Gun Works has a proper front sight for this cut down rifle.

I'd suggest Springfield Slim for your bullets  http://www.whyteleatherworks.com/BigLube.html

Big Lube Bullets

45-70   WEIGHT/SIZES   385 grain sized to .458 and lubed

Shipping is 15.00/USPS Flat Rate box. I can fit  500 45-70 in a box .  All bullets are shipped lubed/sized in styrofoam trays, which are then vacuum sealed in heavy duty plastic bags to limit movement during shipping.
Payment can be either by check/MO by mail, sent to

Just "Pilling On" for a kindred spirit.  Just a second to Major 2s recommendation for

The year of manufacture for serial number 72xxx is 1918.
All numbers match including the grips,
Cyl, butt and barrel under the extractor
Bluing is original, nice case color remains on Hammer & trigger; the Ordnance Bomb remains. Great lockup and timing
No pitting, bore is bright, I will give it a good detail cleaning and shoot it.  ;D

A nickel plated S&W model 36 followed me home from the "toy" store today. I was made between 1962 and 1966.

Mine was made in 1982 , I happened into a LGS  ( about 11 years ago now ) I had never been in before ..
I was on my lunch  hour, and the display counters were mostly bare... I was told the Orlando Gun Show was that weekend
and most of the stock was being shown.
This one was on consignment, and followed me home. I carried it exclusively CCW until I purchased a SIG 365 about 2 years ago.
Now it resides as my night stand piece , and on occasion it may see a road trip.

Nickel,

I did have a Model 60- 2-1/4" heavy barrel (SS) with a Hillary hole lock , circa 2002 , but it was noticeably heavier.
with Butt ugly Rubber recoil grips

I was not into it much cost wise,  bought used,   ( I don't think I ever even shot it )
and had chance to trade up for a Webley VI , which I wanted..
