 :) Brickwall  ;)

I just love Know-It-All clowns who spout off a remark like that.  Probably never entered their tiny little brain that 80 - 90 percent of deer are take at well under 100 yards.  You see most of those idiots wandering around with some form of Magnum sporting the biggest scope they can find.  Which of course, they usually never sight in.

:) Well PLUS ONE for 45 Dragoon  ;)

And I completely forgot to nominate him in our list for Gurudom.  Sorry Mike!!  Meant no insult.  Just a pea poor memory.

RRio:  Must admit I have never heard it referred to as "Cap Fall."  What many of us call a "Cap Rake" (the post pictured by 45 Dragoon) is also considered a necessity to keep fired caps out of the lock works.

It isn't a case of "are CCI caps any good."  THE most important thing, is to use caps that FIT your nipples Properly.

Good morning and may God bless! 49 here, gonna get to 55 today and sunny! Will be nice because the rest of the week will be in the 30s. Gotta lot of work this week, both hours and chores. A gentleman is bringing in some 19th Century Winchesters for us to sell for him, and they have been sadly neglected for 50 years. Since I'm the "old gun guy" there I will be tearing them down and seeing what we are actually dealing with. Also, had a lady bring an Ortgies pistol in yesterday, her Grandpa's gun, and I tore it down and worked on it some, hopefully the Ballistol will loosen some more crud out of the barrel as overall externally, it's pretty nice little gun.
Anyway, getting ready for Church in a bit, the Missus is felling well enough to go after recovering from a bad bout with the Wu-Flu.

The Barracks / January Precision Pistol Match
« Last post by Niederlander on January 29, 2023, 06:49:02 AM »
Gentlemen,  Due to weather, I'm going to extend the deadline for the January Precision Pistol Match by a week.  Those of us in the more northern latitudes have ranges we need to dig our way into right now.......

Gentlemen,  Due to the rather "brisk" weather we've been having, I'm going to extend the deadline for the January match by a week.  I know our range has about a foot of snow over it, so it CAN be a bit of a challenge...........

A cap post and an action shield is a good combination.

R Rio,
As for cap fall, I'm not sure what you mean.
Fired caps jamming the works.

…..SLUGGED my two loose barrels today…my first effort at it:
Did the 40-60 first. Went to the ACE and got some calipers and wood dowels, put bore butter down the muzzle and on a Hornady 464 musket ball, set the barrel on a roll of toilet paper and started tapping on a section of dowel…left a big ol lead ring on the muzzle and got a relatively nice little slug..measured 12/32 with my cheap calipers..I have some Acme .406 250 grain bullets and they measure 12/32 as well so I’m grossly in the .406 ball park for my groove diameter…seems I need a .407 or .408 to seal this particular bore…also looks as if CH4D has a die set..
