I am very sorry to have to report that Rob (Grizz Bear) Brannon passed away this morning. Grizz has been a member of NCOWS since almost the beginning. I think his # is 357. Rob got me into NCOWS. He was the driving force of the KVC for many years. When he set up a shoot you knew that it would be a challenge. He served as the KVC rep in the congress and was a senator for many years. He attended national shoots and conventions regularly, so if you have been in NCOWS for several years you know him. If you are a fairly new member you have heard of him. In the last Shootist was the second part of a 2 part story titled The Dutch Oven War. NCOWS has lost a good one. jt
Anyone wishing to talk to Monica . It is her wish that you call 913-232 2736

Wow,
Just saw the email and am in shock. He will be missed greatly.

We have lost a giant; both literally and figuratively. :'(
Even though he had taken a step back for the last couple of years, we of the KVC were still standing on his shoulders. He was always there if we needed him.

I have fond memories of attending shoots with Grizz, and really appreciated his sense of humor and encyclopedic knowledge of history.
That's an understatement, Trap, about the kind of match he dreamed up - he was devious.
My condolences to The Contessa, Monica. Rob meant a lot to so many people in this sport. His impact was truly "larger than life".

Oh man, this is tough. Rob and I go back a long ways. He set up the ambush that took me down at a shoot out in the town at the the Ackley range.
I remember him telling me "if it's green I don't eat it"

Grizz was a great guy. I enjoyed the little time I was able to spend with him at the KC conventions. The Contessa and the rest of their family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

HAPPY TRAILS, ROB. YOU WILL BE MISSED!

Services: Tue. June 25, 1:00 - 3:00 will be visitation at the Highland Park Funeral Home in Kansas City, KS. Graveside service will follow at the same location. The address for Highland Park is 4101 State Avenue, just east off 635. You can read the obituary on Highland Park's website and also write comments and memories there.
Monica has requested that his friends dress in period attire, very fitting for this occasion.
As I mentioned before, if you wish to visit with Monica, the best number to call is 913-232-2736.

Very sorry to hear that. I enjoyed talking to him at the Conventions and Nationals shoots. He had a lot of good ideas back in the early 2000's that were shared here on Cas City.
He was a very nice sincere man.
