Shotgun fitting

I keep hearing this term.  How does one go about it?  Secondly anybody know of good gunsmith in the Phoenix AZ area to work on my Rossi Overland?

Shotgun fitting is done primarily by trap and skeet shooters, to fit the piece to their shooting style and physique, so that they might engage fast-moving targets shot at a distance more naturally - it has nothing to do with C&WAS, where the barrels almost touch the target.

What's wrong with your Rossi?

You might find that shooting it will make it more 'user-friendly' as it breaks in, and I'd recommend doing that, before taking it somewhere.

Nothing wrong with the Rossi.  Just being proactive and have somebody I can take it if needed.

They're fairly robust - you really shouldn't have problems.

About the only fitting anyone does on a CAS shotgun is shortening the stock to fit you and installing a recoil pad.  A lot of shooters will also replace the front bead with a larger bead.  Nothing more is needed since the targets are only ten or twelve yards away.  Any gunsmith can install a recoil pad.  Since you are in Phoenix if you want a cowboy gunsmith you can contact Palo Verde or Johnny Meadows.

Palo Verde has limited his practice to the 73 and 97.
