I am one of those few whacko 10 gauge BP shooters.

Mine an original Remmie 1883 with external hammers. My gunsmith thinks the barrels maybe fluid steel - but definitely not Damascus.

She sure turns some heads when I let her rip!

I also shoot 12 and 16 too.

I have two J. Stevens Model 235's in 12 ga. One has 30" barrels, and despite being over 100 yrs old it looks almost new.  The barrel bluing is 98% and the casehardening on the receiver is about 60%.  Maybe a little better.  The bores are perfect - no pitting or rust.  There are a few very small rust spots on the receiver - you have to look close to see them.  The wood is really nice for a gun of this 'calibre'.  I have another one that's a complete basket case - the bores are pitted, the 20" barrels have been browned, the wood has been replaced, and there's no finish on the receiver other than several rust spots.  The replacement wood has really nice figure.  Consequently, when folks look at the two guns it's the old rust bucket that draws their attention.  Go figure.   ::)  I found the nice original gun in a pawn shop in the middle of nowhere.  Not even the salesman knew what it was.  I did.  This was my first CAS gun, purchased back in '92.

I also have two Cimarron (TTN) 1878 Coach Guns in 12 ga.  One is my wife's which has the standard blued receiver.  Mine has the casehardened receiver.  I don't know who does the bone & charcoal casehardening for them, but it's really beautiful.  Both are really nice guns - better than I was expecting considering they're Chinese imports.  They've worked great right out of the box.

I've had other's over the past 20+ years, but these are what I'm shooting now.

Usually shoot a hammerless double 12, (Stoger), but on occasion shoot a hammered double 12, (TTN), have a 97, 12, for sometimes shooting and for style points will shoot a "Cap" 87 in 12.   Have a trench gun I have never shot.
Like 'em all, but am not fast, so I can shoot whichever and not hurt my times.

1.  a 1888 Side By Side in 12Gauge that I use for back up and shoot Black Powder out of.

2.  A 1887 IAC Lever in 12 Gauge which I use Black Powder and Metallic Hulls.

3.  A 1897 Trench Gun I use in Wild Bunch matches.  Smokeless factory or my own smokeless reloads using Remington Nitro 27 Hulls.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

A pair of Remington's.  An 1882 12 ga and an 1889 10 ga.

I also use a CCH TTN 12 ga, and have been known to use an IAC 1887 and rarely - and I do mean rarely - an 1897 Winchester made in 1916

This is a Birmingham Gun made by Hume. 2 1/2 inch chambers and a sidelever/sidelock. It was made in the 1870's and is tight and wonderfully made with nice engraving...

I never considered myself a failure...I started out at the bottom and happen to like it here!
