Title: New Pictures from Rattlesnake Jack
Post by: Bull Schmitt on March 22, 2007, 12:22:46 AM
Rattlesnake Jack has provided approximately two dozen 19th Century photographs of various British Empire military units. These have been added to the web site and will randomly appear when the home page is loaded. By doing a "relaod" of the page a different picture will appear.

Enjoy!

Many thanks to Rattlesnake Jack for providing these photos.

Regards,

For some reason the one captioned "North West Mounted Police - Ft. Walsh 1878" does not appear.

Nice pics!
Thank you Rattlesnake Jack.

RJR,

Cdn. Mounted Inf. in Winter Dress - Was the boy a drummer or the Officers son??  Saw a picture with a lad in a uniform next to his father and was told by the Col. that he was the boy and was with his father at the riding school at Ft. Riley, Kansas.  He became the 3rd generation to command that school.  He was my CO while I was with the 1st Army Marksmanship Training Unit at Ft. Meade, MD.

Dr. B...

Not a drummer (they're so darned hard to play on horseback, y'know ...   ;))

He was a bugler ....  (now that you know that, you'll recognize the bugle he is holding in his right hand in the photo on the GAF website ... admittedly hard to see, otherwise.)

Here is another photo of the same individuals, undoubtedly taken at the same studio session ...
