In the new view, notice the engraved '66s !!!!!!  But what caught my eye is the "new" part for the Transitional, that stabilizes the optional fore end for the for the Transitional.  Mine is nice, pretty, neat looking, and just about useless as a functional fore end as it just slides around.  I take it off when I shoot in a match.

I think he is talking about the King Trans-Model the wood forearm....

if I ever find an Iron frame (just because I want one ) at the right price...
I might convert my present Henry to a Kings conversion ( the Smith Shop offers the service )
I would forgo the wood forearm myself.

Is that a brass frame...or just bad lighting? :-\

Well I guess that's for Bootsie to answer ...
compaired to the case hard finish on the Plains Rifle it the same hue as the other Brass frames...
I have another photo of a blued Lightning in the same case and it reads blue luster.

On the part ? is that it,  some sort of pin/screw (first Photo) right side front of the wood forestock ?

Seth, and guys,

Go to the first photograph (dont drool on the keyboard) and look closely at the top of the wood fore end.  There is an added metal strap of some sort (blued) and a screw  to the barrel.  You have to look close or you'll miss it.  That strap and set screw were not included in the original, unless I missed something in the package.  I hope not, I threw the package away!!!!  I may have to call Taylors and ask.  I would hate to be imbarrassed by having thrown a part away!!!!  My rifle just doesn't have the little strap and screw.  Well ...... not that I know of (I hope).

- Clarifications -
"Brass" frame Lightning: probably bad shot - the frame is steel and gold plated
"improved Henry": when I took the rifle out of the rack in the Uberti showroom the foreend moved against the weaight of the rifle. It wasn't fixed in any way.

Thanks.... Bootsie for the clear up....

Brass Frame lightning  ::) my bad , but stranger things have been made I suppose...

I'm a little un-clear on the King loading port , is it spring loaded , like the 66 & 73 ?
