Title: 1860 CAVALRY SABER
Post by: Spanish Marshal on April 23, 2006, 02:46:56 PM
   Dear Comrades in arms:

For some time, I have the idea of buying a 1860 cavalry sable, a reproduction, (my wage is not the sufficiently big thing to be able to buy one original). I have already seen some webs, but I don't know for which to decide, because although I want a reproduction, I don't want to ship me "a scrap"  >:( >:(.

As in previous occasions, I request you your help, especially to those gentlemen that already have one.

   Thank you in advance.

I suggest Fall Creek Sutler.... Andy Falks sells a nice Ames Repo. Also Atlanta Cutlery has some good repos.

Dixie may now also import it , but I also seen some lesser quality ones shipping from them.
As a cavalry reenactor some 28 years I've seen some really poor ones from Spain, Pakistan & India.

Or, for not that much more, you can get the real thing from the Ames Sword company, still in buisness!

I have one of these, excellent quality, a fully functional saber.  Look under "Featured Product" for the special on the saber.   $175

Howdy

I got mine from from Atlanta cutlery.  It will flex and they say you can actually use it in battle. I was real happy with it and it don't have the phony nut on the handle like alot of repos. Also it has original markings stamped on both sides of the blade. And not alot of money I think it was $80 bucks. they have a web site check em out.

I have gotten several swords from Legendary Arms (www.legendaryarms.com) that have been very well made at a reasonable price.

  Dear  colleagues:

I have already ordered my saber to Atlanta  Cutlery and  I am expecting the confirmation of this.   ;) ;)

Again I would like to request your help: ??? ???
Could some of you put a image in which I can see the  placement of the  knot in the saber?.
I know the way to place it in the Spanish saber,(my actual Spanish Officer´s sword). but I believe that it will be different, because it is also different the Spanish knot.

   Thanks again.
