Sorry can't do that yet. We start "Hot August Nights" today through Sunday, Reno and Sparks will be filled with over 1,000 classic cars running all over town or parked at various casino parking lots and downtown streets for "show and shines" where you can see all the restoration work done to these puppies!

Frigidaire, simple. ;)

Frigidaire,
DoH ! well, I'll be jiggered. :D
-
So why does the d in fridge come before the g, but it comes after it in Frigidaire?

Typo that carried through?
Dislexics Untie!

Peppers, cukes, green beans, snow peas and many others are also fruits. Plus strawberries are not berries but bananas and watermelons are. Walnuts are not nuts in fact the only commone so called nuts are hazelnuts, and acorns. Sweet meats are breadstuff aka pastory, but sweet bread is meat and are offal. ::)

Hit 106 here today, yeesh. Did sell my old 3D printer to a really nice 16 year old today. His Dad brought him by and he is really excited. Anyhoo, been running the new one pretty steady, gettng ready for a game convention Labor Day weekend in Texas. THEN gotta get ready for Comin at Cha later in the month. Been too stinking hot to work at the reloading bench and want a few hundred more rounds for this month and next. Temps are supposed to normalize next week.

Working on my car, replaced the tone ring on one side, went to do the other side and the spindle nut is rotted down to 1&1/16 inches from 34 mm, Plus it's rusted on. I'm going to have to get some serious heat on it to remove it.It certainly isn't cooperating with me.Oh and to add insult to injury,One of the brake lines blew and they have been discontinued from the manufacturer, will have to make them from scratch.
-
Got an update on the Hot August Nights registration. There are over 5000 pre '79 vehicles running around town. Lots of neat looking cars an the streets!

Congratulations, a fine man raised right, and a proud Granddad. :)
I'm working on a barn find WW1 Canadian Ross Rifle 1910 Mark II Bayonet.
It's kinda rough, but it will make a cool wall hanger for the loading room once cleaned up.
The old relic cleaned up enough to read :
ROSS RIFLE CO. / QUEBEC / PATENTED 1907 on the pommel, right
& a number 16 on the grip mounting flat

Afternoon Y'all, went to a CAS match today, shot clean, but went back to 4 good stages and a train wreck,My rifle jammed up on me and it took a while to clear it, 4 stages in high 20 second range and a 44 second train wreck. I guess it's best to get them out of the way before our State championship next month.

Grandniece & nephew are coming over to play in the pool.... I was in earlier and it's a bit tepid for my taste.
96° and no rain on the radar.

Temp is 100. The A/C went out on my car. Could be a grand to fix it.
-
I'm exploring all my options. Instead of sticking another grand into the car, I was thinking maybe leasing or buying another used car or maybe even a new car. I stopped at a new car dealership today. Terrible experience! The cost to lease a car is insane! Some of the shops that fix auto A/C have bad reputations. I finally found a used car dealer close by that I can trust and he fixes auto A/C.
-
4:30 AM and its 82 degrees ::)
Today guessers say "Excessive Heat - Warning for the next couple of days.
We did have a 30-minute thunderstorm sneak up late yesterday afternoon, it was clear then "BOOM" a crash of thunder and the short TS rolled in.
“It’s going to be hotter than blue blazes!” I have no reason to go anywhere, so I likely won't.

Glad for good news, Delmonico, and that you're feeling better, Slim.
Johnny, bummer about the car. We dropped my wife's trailblazer off for a much-needed alignment yesterday, and were told that the front upper control arms and ball bearings need replacing. The way the car handles, it's probably true. They quoted $700 or more to replace them. Looked it up and I can get quality parts for a little north of $100 total, and lots of videos on 1A Auto and elsewhere of how to do it myself.
Still might try taking the car to a different shop to confirm they think the parts need replacing, and to see if they give me the same line about needing to replace the tires to get a good alignment (lots of tread left, but they say it's because the wear is uneven; I don't think we're replacing those tires again anytime soon though).
Nebraska has cooled off a bit. Got some rain again last night and now getting a bit more. High temps mostly in the 80s this week here. Currently about 61 and forecast to hit 78.
-
Glad you are feeling a little better. :)
Just dropped grain for the horse, check the temps Twas 102 in the shade. :o
I don't know what the humidity ratio does to the feel like but I saw this calculator.

I had talked to him on my way to work just a few days before. Told him I would be at their monthly match the coming weekend. I enjoyed is company and fellowship. It came to me as a shock.
A few years later, I am laying in ICU struggling to live, when I received news of Arcey passing away. Another great guy.
Fellas, I have been fighting to stay alive since. I cautiously check in here in fear of who I might read has gone on. Glad you all are upright and keeping the Devil off your backs.

It was 86° at 7AM this morning.
-
Lately the Heat Index during the day has been around 110. It was 80 when I went this morning at 7:00 AM. I was dripping wet when I finished. Hopefully I'll get my car back today?
-
Got my car back. A/C works again. My wallet is $1300 lighter but there's a lot of worse things that can happen to an old guy like me.
-
Ouch! but it is better than the hit you take when to drive a new one off the lot and then several years of monthly payments.
Thermometer shows 98 degrees in the shade and that's after a brief shower.
Records are being tied.

Maybe a TS that afternoon, we'll see....

Been a few days since I checked in. Still working six days a week here, Big storm dropped a huge oak tree across my driveway last Sunday night. Still mostly there. Been whittling away at it whenever I get home early enough, was going to do more tomorrow, but the forecast is for 102 degrees-that's actual degrees, not "feels like" Maybe if I get up early enough, I can work on it a couple of hours before going to church.
-
We got 101 today actual. Going to be worse, maybe a new record this week I only have to venture out twice this week so far and not in the hottest part of the day. Smoke came down from Canada again and with the heat and humidity it's hitting me hard. Glad we got the new air in 2019. I know why old people died in the 30's, hope we don't come to this. 1935 pictures, downtown apartment dwellers in July.
-
Delmonico, I went past the capital this evening, but I didn't see anybody sleeping on the lawn. We were in town for a gospel concert. Was out with the in-laws this morning trying to keep the irrigation functional, but we came in around noon and stayed in. The heat and humidity were quite the combination.
-
101 outside right now. Got some more limbs cut off the tree this morning, and cut through the trunk in one spot before church. Just now tried to drag it with Big Alice (Allis-Chalmers 190XT), no dice. About 15 -20 feet of the trunk, and the root ball, moved the one end about 2 feet. Maybe just before dark it'll cool down to 90-something and I'll try and cut the trunk loose from the root ball. Tree is about 3' at the base, my saw has an 18" bar.... But it was hollow where I made the first cut, maybe it'll be hollow at the base, too.

Here we go again, actually it is expected this time every year.
Idalia expected to be a major hurricane at landfall in Florida early Wed. morning.
John Saffran is closer to the cone of projection and will be in the warning area.
So far, my area is outside the models (save one which just brushes by)
We will get RAIN a plenty, and gusts.
Finger crossed for John :)
-
Many thanks for your concern, Major. At this point, it appears that we will be on the fringe of the action. My son is a pilot for a local company, and he thinks we will be okay. Nevertheless, we are still taking precautions and stocking up on supplies.

4am plumbing check and weather look see....
Rain is moderate and has been some hours now, winds about 15-18 mph.
The storm is now approaching Cat 4, but 200 miles west of my location.
-
We are ten miles from the waters of Tampa Bay. All we have experienced so far is rain and moderate winds. A person I know who lives close to the water said it's not a matter of when the flooding hits but how much. My son who lives in St. Petersburg said they got lots of rain and 40 mph winds. Their streets are flooded. All of the bridges in the area are closed. Looks like we dodged another
bullet 8" Howitzer round. The communities north of us will not be so lucky. My prayers go out to them.

Still raining and we just had a session of big old fat heavy rain.
So far, we are at 2.9 inches, they reported winds were about 17-20 mph.
Radar looks to have dry swath shorty then another feeder squall.
And this things center was 200 miles west of us!
Sad events for the folks on the northwest coast big bend area, looks like landfall was Cat 3.
-
Glad it messed you two.
Air quality is still bad here, pine smoke. Supposed to hang around till late Friday. Will likely nap a lot, O2 was 93, not real bad but that low makes me sluggish. Rita has a Heat up pizza she just came home with for supper.
Made this last night late, not as impressive as it looks, quick biscuit dough over a package of give it to the poor beef stew that comes like an MRE. She's been liking them, may have to buy some because it takes 5 minutes to mix and she likes it and needs to eat. 8 inch oven, perfect size for us.
-
Still raining off and on, but it is the tropical train that is dragged up behind the main circulation.
Radar shows it continuing raining late this afternoon.
The storm itself is up near the outer banks of N. Carolina and will head out to sea.
Best wishes to Baltimore Ed. :)
Some concern it might loop back toward Florida ::)
Rain amounts to 3.5 inches in my area winds now about 5 MPH.

For you folks in storm paths, using gensets: make sure they start, and get reserves of fuel NOW.
If you havent run one before check with the manufacturor on how long YOUR generator will run on a tank of gas or tank of propane.
After the power is out is a bad time to learn you are gonna run short.
We are just now putting in a standby 10kw genset, need that much to run the freezers AND aircon AND well pumps …
