I would love to see a 3D Hydrocode analysis done on a 45-70 using a very light
 (negligible mass) card just above a reduced load of fast-burning powder.

I'm having a real problem envisioning a situation where the card is not blown
totally out of the way by the primer long before the powder gets going.
(In other words, it merely acts to position the powder not unlike raising the
rifle to vertical, but does so without the use of any effective mass.)
