Title: 19th Century Competitive Rifle Shooting
Post by: RattlesnakeJack on November 17, 2008, 10:00:32 PM
On British Militaria Forums I have posted about 30 or so rather
interesting engravings related to competitive rifle shooting
originally published in the Illustrated London News from 1860 through
1897 - the very heyday of the activity among Rifle Volunteers and many
others ....

(These are posted in the form of thumbnail links to the larger images,
so  this page shouldn't take an eon to open ....)

If interested, here is the link ....

No .... didn't have any engravings of shooting at Creedmore saved - mind you, there were some big "date gaps" in what I did have saved, so I probably skipped around in my searching (likely using "Wimbledon" and "Bisley" as search terms) and then ran out of time ...  guess I'll have to locate that site again and search for "Creedmore" .....

As indicated in my response to Ol' Gabe on the Shooter's Meeting posting of this topic, the Bisley Range is still very much in use - so, as a consolation prize to you, Colonel ..... here is just one of many photos posted on the UK NRA website, taken at the 2008 "Imperial Meeting", which is the premiere international competition hosted by the NRA ....
(Well .... O.K. .... I decided to add one other pic ....   ;D  )
