So too start off, my 66 carbine is stock. No mods nothing. However any factory ammo I've been running lately seems too only feed sometimes. Now it's annoying, kkow tht any factory rounds I used before used to feed flawlessly. I did notice the next cartridge in the magazine juts out the tiniest amount, just enough to stop feeding. But this happens sometimes. It's a 50/50 deal and it seems weird to me that it does this now but not before. Any thoughts?

I figured out the problem, the tab on the loading gate bent too far back.

Buy a couple of spare gates and screws. Sooner or later that tab will break off allowing rounds in the magazine to pop under the carrier block. Always seems to happen in the middle of a match. While you are at it get a mag tube plug wrench. Quickest way to dump the rounds left in the mag tube and under your carrier.

PLUS ONE too Johnson Barr. However. DO NOT buy a Uberti OEM replacement. The Uberti ladle will break. Not if. When. If you have bent the tab on your ladle "back" it has already started to fail.
I would suggest you contact VTI and source their replacement ladle which is made of sterner stuff. Then ..... reinforce the tab on the new ladle. That stupid bent tab on the ladle is the only weak part on the 66.

Yeah, I had a TOW ladle. I'm a see info cant bend the tab back and them jb weld it. Or if it snaps. I'll reluctantly buy another and reinforce it

Order the aftermarket loading gate from VTI. I've had one on my '66 carbine for around 15 years of CAS Matches. It has a deep V at the front that takes the stress off of the tab.
Add: 11 Jul - the aftermarket loading gate is also not as stiff as the original. Makes loading easier.

I put in a in stock request. Will we if they have any

Be sure to check your mounting screw diameter. Uberti made 66 loading gates in two different sizes. Small O.D. (.090) & Large O.D. (.115). I have both sizes in my kit for the early models (small dia.) and current late models (large dia.). Both came from VTI

I already know that, mines the larger diameter

JB Weld will re-enforce the tab.
