Removing the cylinder from a Laramie?
« on: April 28, 2007, 09:31:54 AM »
Manuals that came with my Laramie are bad. There are no instructions for removing the cylinder, & the illiustrated parts breakdown is a Schofield. Can anyone tell me how to remove the cylinder on the Laramie?

Thanks
Dusty

Howdy Dusty

I got the Uberti Schofield. On mine you remove the screw on the latch closest to rear site and loosen the other screw. The latch should lift up enough for the cylinder to be removed.

The Laramie, instead of being a true repro of the later Model 3 S&W, is a mix, with the Model 3 grip shape and a Russian cylinder retainer.  Uberti doesn't want to waste tooling.  You need the disassembly instructions for the Navy Arms or Uberti Russian.

Just as the Russian uses the Schofield ejector system and extractor release, the Laramie is a mix of all three.

Joss House has the disassembly method correct.

To be correct, the laramie should only require the latch to be lifted to release the cylinder by rotating the cylinder CCW while pulling  it to the rear.
