777 question for those who reload cartridges
« on: February 09, 2021, 04:10:17 PM »
I have read that for 777 they recommend little to no compression in loading a cartridge.   I have not used it for cartridge loading, but I use it in my cap and ball after local sources of BP dried up a few years back.  My question is by the nature of loading the cap and ball I am compressing the 777, how is that different than a cartridge?

 :)  Mogo  ;)

It's not.  if you're running 777 in a Cap Gun, your rammer should be adjusted to seat your projectile "just" on top of the amount of 777 used.  Not just rammed home willy nilly.  You should NOT be compressing in your Cap Gun.  No Air Space either.
