They did. I did. (Shiloh Military Carbine)
« on: December 10, 2020, 03:52:24 PM »
I said a few years back, if Shiloh ever offered the military pattern rifles again, I'd get in line.

Couple weeks ago, they put the Carbine back in the catalog.  Ordered one in .50-70 with the 1-36" twist. Now I've got 18 months to save up for it.  Whoopee!

We will wait with the much talked about 'baited breath' for future reports of progress, and eventually a shooting report, complete with pictures of course. (smiley face goes here)

Congratulations!
Are you opting for aged, or leave new. They offer antique metal finish for $355.

Standard finish, no extra anything, except for 2" more barrel. (24" vs 22")

I don't think Goodman will get these any faster, being new in the catalog, anyways, I like having the time to save up.  And I've got my Chiappa to shoot until then.  Might be a good deal on that 18 months from now.

The "Antique" finish seems to be something new for them, don't remember that in the catalog when I ordered my Business rifle 2 years ago.

We've got a local pawn shop with a .50 caliber Shiloh round barreled sporting rifle.  If it was .50-70 I'd have to find a way to own it.  I think it's actually a .50-140, but I'll check on that.  Nice rifle, though!

Shiloh does not chamber that cartridge.  THe biggest it could be is 50-90 (2.5" case)  although someone could have rechambered it I guess.

Hi
Obviously we're all curious about the basic brass or is that just a blown out .45/70 or 45 basic brass.  OK, Dixie sells it.  Dang.

Excited for you.  Last Christmas my wife gave me A Shiloh Sharps in 45/70.  She did this without my knowledge and gave me the shock of my life. The learning curve has been great. The reloading is lot more involved but I am getting there. I have had help with sighting it in and I think I am ready for a long distance match ?????  They make great guns it will be well worth your wait.

That description sounds like Shiloh's Business Rifle. 28" round barrel, barrel mounted sights, and a plain stock and butt plate. I have one in 50 2-1/2" Sharps Straight (50-90). I haven't shot mine yet because of the fire restrictions around here. The National Forrest and BLM land is closed to shooting. Sure wish it would rain!

Hey Wooley, this'll be my 4th Shiloh.  Had to sell the 1st two during harder times.  Got a .50-70 business rifle now.  Been wanting a Military Shiloh for a LONG time.

Ned, if that's a .50-2 1/2 (.50-90)  and it's under $2000 it might be one to grab.  Love the Business rifles.  The round barrels don't get made very often.

I went back and looked at that Shiloh Sharps.  It IS a .50 x 3 1/4", otherwise known as the .50-140.  The markings are all original, and it is a Shiloh marked barrel.  I don't doubt they don't make them now, but they made at least one at some point.

Odd, wonder how old it is?  I know Wolf made some for the long case.  Might still be worth it, Shiloh will rebarrel a rifle for $600.

While that would normally be the case, the owner used it to shoot long range black powder silhouette.  He's just getting old enough he's thinning the herd.  I don't know whether he bought it new or traded into it.  I think it's over priced, too, though.  If it was a .50-70, or even a .50-90, I'd try to figure out a way to own it.
