H&R Trapdoor Carbine parts?
« on: July 08, 2023, 05:48:13 PM »
I picked up an H&R carbine on Gunbroker to back up my Pedersoli.  Put six rounds through it.  On the 7th round, the cartridge rim started slipping behind the extractor and the breach would not close.   Had to get the round out with cleaning rod. Happens every time I try to load it now.

I took a close look at the extractor and the end of it is quite worn, maybe even having a small bit broken off.
I've been looking for a replacement extractor, but H&R parts are pretty much dried up. Not sure if the original Springfield extractor or the Pedersoli will fit.   Even those look hard to find -- out of stock from the usual sources.  Google searches for the part just seem to get me a lot of hits for broken case extractors, obviously not what I need.

Any advice?

FWIW seems like someone is always parting out a trapdoor on Ebay.   ;D

I don't know if they still have any, but years ago I broke an extractor/ejector and bought several repos from Dixie.

I got a repro Springfield retractor from S&S.  It was oversized compared to the H&R part and required quite a bit of filing and fitting, but I eventually got it in.
