Title: Retired!
Post by: Niederlander on February 16, 2021, 07:39:16 PM
Gentlemen,  I know a couple of you had reached out to me with questions about targets and such.  Since I'm now RETIRED (Woo Hoo!!), I should now have time to answer those questions. If you didn't get an answer from me, please let me know and I'll see if I can get you the information you need.

Competing against you two, now that you are retired and have time to practice, will be futile for mere mortals!

Congrats, hopefully you diligently and with much IRA acumen planned ahead and don’t have to eat spam. Welcome to your ‘Golden Years’. As Spock would say, Live long and prosper.

Indeed , Congratulations

My own retirement was planned for but was to be not quite yet, I enjoyed doing .. and figured a couple of more years at it

However the pandemic had different ideas , my industry was yet another casualty.

Trade and Industrial Shows a multi-billion industry was killed off....

I expected to retire one day down the road,  did not expect everyone I work with to go with me  ::)

Hi Ed

Check the price of Spam at the grocery store next time you drop by, that stuff's expensive.  On the other hand, if you can get past the shlookkk sound of it sliding out of the can, it ain't too bad fried.

Congratulations on being retired Ned.  I figure I've got another ten years unless they irritate me again.  I could probably retire, but I had to stay home with the kid years ago, no book, couldn't use power tools cause he was sleeping so I watched Daytime TV. I'm still scarred.  Montel Williams "Grandmothers who shouldn't wear bikinis."  Swear to GAWD.

Hope you've had breakfast.

I have, official last day was Jan 6th but in reality I was on terminal leave since before Christmas.  I would love to say I was able to coast in with nothing to do but that would be a lie.  I didn't get the paperwork finished on the last of my cases until the very last day.  Only had to hand off a couple (waiting on lab results) to someone else.

Sold the house in the new liberal Mecca of Colorado.  Moved to the Texas house, didn't much more than get started on the outside projects before the snow and below zero temps (we've been breaking 100 year old records down here in the last few days) followed me down here.

Are you looking for something new, you're too young for the recliner?

Looking at a couple of things.  Definitely going to work part time, just not in law enforcement!  Congratulations on YOUR retirement!  (And on the move!)

SPAM, you mean Hawaiian steak?  They tell me it's a taste left over from WWII but I think SPAM is the unofficial meat of the islands.  You can buy ready to eat spam, rice and seaweed rolls in every convenience store there.  Walk in the grocery store and they don't even bother to stock it on a shelf, they leave a pallet of it on the floor, just inside the front door and it all disappears in a day or two.

As luck would have it I still like Ramen, cheaper by far than Spam so no matter how bad things get I'll eat.

Congratulations, Dale!

Speaking from personal experience, once you are in full retirement. the problem is that you never get a day off!

I'm not going to count on that.

Not that I don't like Ramen, but my comment about that would be; "As luck would have it I still like venison,  so no matter how bad things get I'll eat."

Don't do ramen, don't do spam but found a place that has bully beef cheap, keep a few cans in the cupboard.   Lol, plan today id get the stuff in the kitchen in cupboards or at least a short supply, rest might go under the bed with the cases of canned milk.  Don't give an old phart cook a COSCO card and stimulus money, the whole house could be a pantry.   Seal a meal thing gets a work out, "are you going to eat the rest of that?"  If not it gets sealed, marked and frozen.  ;D

I’m sure that he saw it about ready to go off and in a true moment of self sacrifice threw himself on it like Jimmy Cagney did in The Fighting 69th. Above and beyond.

Another important feature . . .  The Weekend now starts on Monday when all the Cubiclists return to their cubicles.  It lasts until Friday night when all those cubiclists
escape again.  Marvelous it is.  8)

Congratulations on retirement, although you look too young for it!
My plan on retirement was volunteer 20 hours a week, now doing 40 hours a week across 3 different departments in local VA. Too much need, not enough volunteers.
