Outrider, a new pair of Bisleys? Snap! That's very cool. I would love to have a pair of those. Every once in a while I get to borrow a friend's Bisleys, and I love to shoot them. They fit my hand a lot better than my NMV’s, which have such small grips. I also like the Bisley hammers. I’m sure you will enjoy them, Congrats. JD

Thanks JD.  I have several of the Old Model Vaquero Bisleys, but I have been waiting for the New Model Bisleys to get here...Ruger is finally starting to ship them.  Basically the new models have the same grip frame as the old models but mated to the smaller overall frame.  They also came with gunfighter style grips and feel really comfortable to hold.

Congrats on the new pistolas, Outrider. Let us know how they shoot.

TW, I haven't flown much for a while. I sold my airplane a number of years ago and it just isn't the same renting or using someone else's. Having a purpose for flying makes a difference, too. You can only do so much joyriding before it gets old. I passed that point long ago. I suppose if I get a need, I'll look into getting another one.

Howdy Kid, no I haven’t. I thought about it when I saw that 2-3 oz kip at Tandy, but that’s it. I’m working on carving roses, so I can complete a guitar strap that I’ve promised to a member of my worship team. I made the mistake of asking what her favorite flower was. I should have just made a strap and put something on it that I could carve without too much trouble.

I’ve found the rose to be especially challenging, but I’m working at it. Several people have suggested the “Wild Rose”, but it’s a rose in name only. It doesn’t look like a rose, so it won’t work.

I also made a Wild Bunch holster yesterday, and I’m going to take it to the range this morning, and pass it on to a friend to have him fit it to his Para 1911. It’s quite a bit wider than a standard military 1911, being a double stack, so I expanded Slow hand Bob’s pattern a bit. I stamped it in a hurry, so I didn’t do a real good job. I sewed it up last night after our regular Friday night service. I’m going to cut out the keeper in a few minutes. I haven’t had time to dye it yet, but will do so soon. When it’s finished I’ll post a picture of it.

I sure did like the carving on that last holster you posted. Have you done other Sheridan style carvings?

Howdy Pards,

Well, the new Bisley's worked out very well today.  They shot point of aim, however they definately need a spring kit...Tomorrow's project for sure along with some deburring and cleaning

KT,

Already done..couldn't wait until tomorrow  ::) ::).changed to a set of 16 oz hammer springs...The guns are slick now for sure....I used the Wolf Spring kits and deburred all the internals...took me about two hours.  I found the spring kits at the shoot today...one of my pards had three extra kits...got all three for $10.00.....I usually keep at least four Ruger kits and at least 5 92 spring kits on hand all the time...today I pard gave me his Stoeger shotgun to do some slicking on...fortunately I have one Stoeger spring kit here...

Howdy Outrider ;D ;D ;D ;D

Those are beautiful, too bad we're not closer, I'd be more than happy to help you break them in, question, if the new Bisley is the same body as the new Vaquero, then the hammer spring should be a 17# spring, which is a whole lot better than the old model with a 23# spring, I switched mine out for 16# and I like it, with a good degreasing and smoothing, and some good oil, these guns will sing, I think I'm going to have to check these new Bisleys out for my own self, I've always loved the grip frames on the Bisley, with large hands like I have, they feel real good in the hand. Thanks for the look see, and the PM. ::) :o 8) ;D

Very nice pistols, pard. They sure look good. You going to make a new rig for them?

Marshall,

Your reading my mind on the new rig...however I am kind of swamped right now so I am just making a new Duke style crossdraw in 5.5" to accomodate the longer barrel.  With my other set of New Model Vaqueros..I have one in 5.5" and one in 4 3/4" (cross draw) so I have enough leather to sqeeze by for now...but my mind is spinning around looking for new ideas for a Bisley rig.  I have been seriously thinking on getting some horn back alligator and trying that   we will see

Howdy Outrider,
Beautiful set of Revolvers! I share driving to matches with a Pard in my hometown. He shoots a pair of Ruger Bisleys. Yesterday he placed third overall. It was 37 degrees when we started shooting yesterday morning.

I do look forward to seeing the rig you make for your new Bisleys.

Well, I thought I might be passed up by the flu, but since I work in a Hospital I should have known better.  Will probably be down for a few days.   Now I will have more time to keep up with th pards(when I'm not sleeping).

Thought you guys might get a kick out of this, I sure did.
As a lot of you know I lost my dad this past christmas day and it has been pretty tough, but not all of it. My Mom sent me some things she thought I might like to keep and Man what a surprise.
This is the first piece of leatherwork I ever did. I was  10 years old and I can still remember painstakingly placing those letter stamps to try and keep them straight. It was presented to my Dad on his 28th birthday And I also still remember him putting his keys on it and then holding it in his hand, occassionally running his finger over it for the rest of the day. It's a good memory and one I wanted to share.

Lost..... I ain't never been lost...... fearsome confused fer a month er two once... but I never been lost.
