Bianchi shoulder holster # X-2100

My brother-in-law brought this over to see if I might be able to fix it.  It seems the long rods are twisted.  Does anyone have one or know how it is assembled and how to repair it?

TIA.
Doug

I've never seen one. It looks like a pretty cool holster. Is the whole thing steel lined? If so, maybe the liner is what's twisted. I won't advise on it but that bit of information might help someone who has experience with them or something similar.

descriptions of it say it has two steel springs for retention, so I'm guessing the whole thing is not steel lined.

There is a used one just like it on ebay for $35.

I have a similar holster. I believe the spring rods are music wire.
if one cuts it open, it is the devils own work to try to get it back together and function. :-(

sometimes the springs look goofy only when the holster is empty.
try putting a pistol in it and see how it works.

hope this helps

 :) Hey There PAMuzzleshooter!!  ;)

How are Ya!!  First a CAVEAT.  As I believe I have eluded to before, I ain't a leather worker.  Never done anything harder than lacing up a Barrel Wrap for a Henry Rifle.  Haven't stayed inna Holliday Inn Express either (that I admit too).  However, I AM pretty good at mechanical stuff, and I went looking on eBay for similar Sample Examples of your quandary.  I came to the conclusion, there is actually nothing wrong with the rig beyond some spots of wear.  Before even considering taking it apart, I suggest sticking something with about a Seven and a Half inch barrel innit.  If that something doesn't fall out, leave it alone.  Some I viewed had a little safety strap with "snaps" for added retention.  Don't know if that feature is original or a user added option.

Your example does appear twisted but not seriously so.... has it caused an issue in drawing?

My Good PA

That amount of overlap is not considered awful if the holster still functions correctly.

From another forum I frequent, the S&W forum, posted by "Red Nichols The Holstorian"
who (I think)  used to work for Bianchi:

Snip——-
The X2100 did not originally have a thumb snap.

It was created because the X15 spring creates what customers considered to be objectionable 1. muzzle drag (because they don't lift to draw, they drag it out through the opening); and 2. wear and tear to the leather inside that opening because of the dragging. Guns are sharp!

So the X2100 spring is completely different from the X15's. The latter spring is a simple U, doubled into a parallel U with the 'bight' at the muzzle end of the pistol. So it can only open just so far before it resists; and overdoing that will weaken the spring. The former spring, is a true torsion spring: the 'bight' is back behind and then above the front sight and is so far from the bending 'moment', that it releases the muzzle much more easily and doesn't get weaker.

Initially we also thought it would solve the problem of the springs 'falling over'; but when one looks through eBay auctions you'll see that both can have 'collapsed' springs: one edge of the holster opening is substantially overlaid the other and this can't be fixed even by replacing the spring.

So far, this is the best i can do at finding a diagram. It is the Bianchi patent for a front-break belt holster, but the springs are of similar design.

https://patents.google.com/patent/US3630420A/en?oq=3%2c630%2c420

And here is the Bianchi patent for the famous Bianchi 9 upside down shoulder holster.

https://patents.google.com/patent/US4084734A/en?oq=3%2c630%2c420

I include it because
A) it shows a similar spring wire contrivance
2) I like it a lot
