Educate me, Please! CZ & the future of the Colt SAA

<< < (5/6) > >>

Virginia Gentleman:
CZ could use Italian parts and assemble a much more affordable SAA like USFA did when they started out.  Those guns were cheaper than a Colt and not much more than a Uberti.

Coffinmaker:

Not exactly.  Italian parts were being produced in HUGE numbers to specification not compatible with Colt dimensions.  CZ would have to re-tool, or relocate the machine tools.  Neither of which is economically wise.

Finding a way to "save" the Colt SAA is Noble.  Economically foolhardy.

Play Safe Out There

willy:
CZ could scrap the SAA production totally,, and just make a deal for Uberti to send them the whole gun in pieces,,CZ could finish them and stamp them with Colt markings,,Then sell them as original Colts,,you know ,,like the cap and ball revolvers Colt sold as original Colts.

Im sick of red varnished grips, i wonder if a colt cowboy would sell today? Id be up for a tuned old model 4 click uberti with real colt eagle grips for under a grand. Anyone else?

Dave T:
The Colt Cowboy was made in West Germany and was panned by serious Colt shooters and collectors.

As for the Colt Eagle Grips, if there's any thing left of Colt (and the name would be about it) they would probably sue Uberti like they did USFA when they had plastic stocks with an eagle on the bottom.  They didn't even have the pony on the top, they just had their familiar "US".
