No idea, lady last week joined my group and asked about recruiting people, I said sure and she did yesterday and they all thought I should put in and the wife did too, hadn't really thought about it.

It's on the Food Network,Chopped has some really odd ingredients in their baskets,The chefs have to do an appetizer, a main meal and a desert, start with 4chefs and ends up with 2, one chef being eliminated each course.

I'm hoping my pictures impress them, if not it's not a big deal, I think you know I have a lot of people that follow me, most of my docs/recipes what ever you call them get 2500 or so reads in my group in a week or two, had one got almost 500 the first hour one time.   I'm teaching a lot of people.   And people like my grumpy long haired redneck style, my comment earlier this week about artisan bread being ugly and needing a paper bag got more than a few laughs.

BTW my my whole wheat herbal brioche bread, now known as Herbert W Brioche bread toasted was very good and went well with aged asiago in French onion soup.   Look at that caramelization in that soup, that is all natural, no added color, just onions, black pepper and broth.

See I can cook fancy if I want to, thinking a lunch at the Muster next year.

Entered a new phase of my life, am not an on-line shopping virgin anymore, I ordered a new dehydrator tonight, wife gave me one of her cards, I hit the cart tab and did it all by myself.  ;D  Hope it lasts better than the one that just burnt up and popped the circuit breaker, it only last 24 years and I had to tear it down and lube the motor 3-4 years ago. :-\

One paragraph I'm proud of: ::) :o ;D

Going to the refrigerator I grab a carton of eggs and open them, and find I have just brown eggs in it, sometimes they have blue green ones or white ones or a mix of all three.  This is good because brown eggs are in style today despite the shell color not making the egg inside different than a white one, at one time white eggs were considered better, now for some reason brown is considered better and cost more.   Sadly in the ultimate search for cool they were not “Free Range Organic” but just regular old farm eggs from yard birds since they run around in my brother in laws yard.   But they were free instead of $5 a dozen so I went with cheap.

Del the French onion soup looks superb ...  :D

My guess is the one show rating for the episode that would feature you, would increase by a factor of everyone on Cas City
and your blog followers.

A leather smith  friend of mine, was featured on "How its Made" and the show got one of the highest viewed new episodes ratings.
Another Knifemaker friend, was featured on "Forged in Fire" ...

I need a vacation from my wife, she bought bagels from the local store bakery last night, late afternoon sale, they had 4 with cheese on the.  Just asked me if I wanted a couple Jalapeno ones, "No, why would I want F*ed up bagels? ::)   Just because I like the J peppers where they belong don't mean I want them on everything.  And that's after I had to take off my headphones. ::)

I guess they got tossed or I will after they mold.  So she put peanut butter and bologna  on the cheddar and asiago ones and ruins them. ::)   I want plain white bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon on them, dang yuppies again, they ruin everything they touch, go look at new pickups. ::)  Need to get me some lump charcoal and a hunk of salmon from Cosco and smoke it and bag it.. ::)

Been locked up since got back from the 2019 Muster and Rowdy was so bad we didn't go far   At least she goes to the Yuppie coffee house with her friend a lot, what she does since she don't drink coffee is beyond me, she's missing out on their free range organic coffee. :o

Evening all.

It’s been a long week, and getting followed by two more.

Drove 120 miles each way today to pump out a rest area, then did a couple more jobs around town.  Finally got the big boy truck on Wednesday. Learning the 10 speed has been a steep learning curve. I have a tendency to skip 6th gear, which is not helpful when one is driving a 60,000lb vehicle.

We heard  2 loud rapid explosions the other day,  it was much louder than any electrical transformer blowing up,
shook the entire house and rattled windows.

We've heard the double BOOM BOOM of the sonic wave from the Space Shuttle when it would return to Kennedy.
It was like that but even louder .

They say it may have been a meteorite sonic boom.   :o

Jun 21, 2021 we heard a loud single BOOM , that turned out to be the
U.S. Navy setting off giant explosion to test USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier. The blast registered as a 3.9 magnitude earthquake.

It was heard from Sabastian to Daytona and 50 + miles inland    ...  https://www.cbsnews.com/news/uss-gerald-ford-shock-trials-earthquake-florida/

12: AM  and its finally "all quiet on the eastern front "   apparently !
The Bubbas were at it with both an AK platform and an AR or two , with someone or 3 answering with 9 Mike Mikes...
I think the AK Bubba had a bump stock or finger bouncing his piece as he dumped several his 30 round Mags....
But this 4th was mostly , Bubba rednecks and their at least $1 + a pop  gunfire  both last night & tonight.
And then a few folks , in all directions light off  firecrackers , the crackle of such is heard but rather lackluster.
There is also the occasional louder fireworks &  and deeper BOOMs of something like an aerial.

One guy about 1/2 to 3/4  mile off to the south east , I think must either work for the Mouse or Universal or some Fireworks display Co. ,  because last night he put on Professional like star burst aerial display, which he does for nearly an hour . He also does it New Years , and I believe someone's mid June birthday or something party as well   Its not a holiday and its every year :-\

I recall something my Dad said as he got up in years,

One of the greatest culinary discovery's by modern man was when it was discovered that picking summer squash when young and tender, then sautéing them in butter makes mighty good eating.  Of course the knuckle dragging cave dwellers  still let them get as big as the Hindenburg and then try to hide them in breads, cakes, brownies and who knows what else.  ::)

Made progress today, told Rita she might have to call 911 and have them bring a lot of Boo Boo bandaids considering the blood thinners if things went south.  Only one tiny claw mark. ;D   Has progressed to like a brother and sister that don't hate each other but like to torment.   She hissed at him once today when he got right in her face and he came and tattled.   Actually been kissing each other and all that.   They have a couple weeks to get it worked out before their world falls apart again.   Lexie's Aunt had a litter and she got the pick, they are in Sioux Falls right now.  A kitten should go smooth I hope.  ::)

Took out of here last night about midnight, took 2 nitros and still had a bit of arm pain and felt like Riley was sitting on my chest, rule is if the nitro don't take care of it fully go in.  spent 16 hours in the ER, they decided to do a stress test, past it with a D+. ;D   They decided a mild angina attack brought on by the congestion.    Got a B- for reaction to it, they would have rather I called 911 but I was sure it wasn't real bad and decided to let LFR rest and cut down on Slim's work load if they still do it for the city. ;D

Got appointment with the NP at the heart place tomorrow, was already on the plan.   Of course due to arm bruising and such from dog and cat training they asked if I was doing that and as a vulnerable older adult they also checked me for abuse.  They don't really tell you that but I knew and kinda laughed.   Asked him what would happen if there were bruises and I told him my wife did it but I liked it.  :o  He told me please don't because he would still have to report it. :o  Guess when you get old they don't allow the kinky stuff.  Dang more giverment control, I can see a conspiracy here going to waste. ;D

Riley and Kitty both were glad to see me and both napped with me with out problems.  Good thing, they hospital left more bruises. :o

Roger, I'll try to call you later, wife is having rest of the kidney stones broke up today, I have an appointment with the SS Dr to help decide if I'm fully disabled or if I can work PT.   Means about $385 extra a month, I decided earlier this year I likely ain't going to be getting a part time job like I planned in April of 2019.   I hear one of the local Burger Kings is hiring though. ;D  You all probably heard. ;)

Total of 9 people including manager, air broke for weeks, 35 days and no one gets a day off.   Plenty of jobs out there.

Sounds like plan Del...

Well,  looks to be I'm   R E T I R E D   I spell it cause I did not want to say it outload

The Industry is slowly , returning , shows are holding to schedules , though the "delta" variant may still dictate.

3 of my Crew ( prop and display ) are back in the shop , working on rental and pre-built

I'm not sure if there is a any time soon resumption to custom designs , engineering and budgeting ( my area of bread & butter)

I may yet get back , maybe  PT  , In bidding or ordering.... but prolly not before the Fall , or even 2023.

Burger King, no thanks .... nor Walmart greeter ,  or bikini line inspector, too many transgenes    :o  he she's out there.

I was out in my backyard the other day barbequing some pork chops. Our Weber is the grass. I must have stepped on an ant hill. I was wearing my sandals and no socks, The ants really went after me and the next day I developed a bunch of little red sores where they bit me. The ants were very small and I could hardly see them. My point in relating of of this is that it was very unpleasant and just the ants on my ankles drove me crazy. This made me imagine what it would be like to be staked out on an ant hill naked.

Nicaraguan coffee is good, looked again and bag says 2 pounds, oh well.   Will vacuum bag about 3/4 of it in around 1/4 lots, Got a small stash that would last a while if coffee gets short and I like varying kinds every few days, could pack it in day lots but too much work, have maybe 10 pounds of 10-12 kinds, no inventory, too much work.

Critter situation is getting mostly better, not sure what happened about 3 am, I was in the middle, Rita to the side, I escaped injury but Rita needed a boo boo band aid, us heart people on blood thinners have them stashed around the house so there were some in the bedside medicine drawer, the one above the pistol.  They slept far apart after that and are now taking turns batting a kitty toy Rita bought yesterday.  They seem to have toys they share and ones they don't and I think the spat last night was over a blue cloth dragon. ::)   He moves it when she gets near it.

Been a hack of a past couple weeks. Had company, some work related fiascos, crazy crackhead encounters and more.

We have a lot of smoke in the Missoula area. About 8,000 local acres going up in smoke, plus the stuff over in WA and OR, and Canada. On the bright side, the smoke keeps the temperature down a little.

76 here and 77 percent, changed the filter yesterday, was nasty for no longer than it's been in there and it smelled like pine smoke, think that's my problem now, got a pulmonologist app on Monday, GP thinks I should.   Only have one appointment apiece next week, then on the 4th back to UNMC and get her knee done.   Plan is take her up there and wait till knee is done, go to her room and kiss and hug and then back to Lincoln for me and not go back up till Friday or Sat to bring her home.  Sounds cold, but it's what she wants me to do and I'm OK with it.  Lucky neither of us think the other one has to sit around in hard chairs and watch the other sleep as long as things are going fine.   My hips are getting so bad they are affecting my back more and more, that's why I use my stool so much when cooking and sit on the ground to prep.   Not going to do anything till her knees are done, don't need both of us down at the same time again. ::)

"On July 13, 2021, a restaurant in New York City broke a Guinness World Record by serving up the world’s most expensive plate of French fries.

The restaurant, Serendity 3 in Manhattan, served up its $200-a-plate creation, Crème de la Crème Pomme Frites, with ingredients that include, per Guinness:

Upstate Chipperbeck potatoes, Dom Perignon Champagne, J. LeBlanc French Champagne Ardenne Vinegar, batches of pure cage-free goose fat from France, Guerande Truffle Salt, truffle oil, Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello cheese, shaved black summer truffles from Italy, truffle butter, organic A2 A2 100% grass fed cream from Jersey Cows, Gruyere Truffled Swiss Raclette that has been aged for 3 months, and of course, 23k edible gold dust."

Didn't say I couldn't get them, know a few places including my own personal kitchen, been a while but might just have to do them again.

So glad my Co-lester-all allows me to cheat a lot.   Dumped the fryer a while back because it hadn't been used since before the big cluster mess.   Could have used it, had had potatoes fried in it last time and strained, wasn't rancid at all, my fear when I found it buried on the table.   Had the last thing been fish and not potatoes it could have been bad. ::)  Always make fries and strain after making CFS Chicken, fish or similar things.

Normally use that stove top oven I think you donated at a muster.   Got 2 10's and a 13 14, wife makes rumbling about another 13 1/4, had my eyes open, may have to go new sometime, can get one for wholesale plus cost on shipping.

I'm a bad person again, Lincoln History groups, there is a bunch get mad when you point out it takes money to save and restore old buildings they get upset.  And to point out that for a private person or group to do it they have to be greedy capitalists or tax payers have to pay for it.

Anyone want to buy a 1920's Dept store, 2.5 million, state quit leasing it do to black mold or so the rumor is.   Unknown how much asbestos is in it.   They laughingly suggesting some of them form a group to save it, offering to donate a couple loaves of my famous homemade bread did not go over well, so they are on their own ;D.

Evening all.

My thoughts on the pizza thing:

I am neutral regarding pineapple. If it’s there (and the pizza is free) I’ll eat it. If it isn’t there, I don’t lose sleep over it. I don’t go out of my way to get it, either.

Kiwi on pizza might convince me to seek other dining options. Swedish pizza is an abomination, and I refuse to acknowledge it as a food.

Regarding French fries: I recently found a local place that makes theirs from scratch, but considering it requires buying a mediocre burger for $14, I don’t frequent it. I’ll stick to homemade Jojos. On that note…

Dinner tonight is potato and onion soup with French bread.

In other news, I’ve just about been talked into getting another horse. This one is a  ~6mo old paint rescued from up near Great Falls. I spent some time with it today, and was able to get it past its fear of being touched by bribing it with some apples and alfalfa cubes. We’ll see how it turns out. I could use a hunting buddy for elk seasons.

One just as bad, was about 15 or 16, got this burger place everyone was raving about, got there, the told me to try the Whopper,  :-X  some SOB put mayo, raw tomato and lettuce on my burger, had never seen that before.  Tried it with out that crap and went back to Bronco's.  Cheaper and better.

The problem with me going out to eat is I expect it to be as good as I make. ;D   The cheese burger the other day in Omaha was the first one I bought anywhere in at least 3 years and nostalgia made me do it.

Anyone else think this looks like bacteria in a petri dish?

I used to find things in the back of my fridge that looked similar to that, although usually "fuzzier" Usually wore gloves to handle it, and double bag it in the trash...

Oshkosh by gosh !  My late FIL participated in that and Sun 'n' Fun with his Kit Planes.
He designed and built a J3 & Super Cub and sold the plans and components out of his  Opa-locka hanger shop.
Never realizing riches he'd hoped, but still stuck with it moving his base to Aiken SC and also managed a little 8000 gal. private airfield till he passed away in 2010. RIP

on tap today ?  Hmmm TODAY/ tonight ... well to quote a famous mouse ..."The same thing we do every night, Pinky – try to take over the world!”   :P

New recipe to try, invented it my self, will see if it's as good as I think.  A teaching Doc to teach people how not to follow a recipe but to use it as a guide.  2nd Edition Betty book, everything is different except baking temp and same amount of milk, still the basic recipe though. ;D

He was good , but no Arlo Guthrie

The song writers, Harry, Arlo, Guy Clark, John Prine, Jerry Jeff, Ray Wiley, and several others, not much like them left. ::)  Could write a song that sounded very goo, both tune and lyrics.

Yeah no moregoodsong writers. Damn this iPad.

And overpriced Waxed Hemp Rope.
Reminds me of Eddie Bowers insanely priced "fat wood"

I guess nobody taught the "kids" to cut up their Amazon prime boxes into little cubes and soak them in
Melted candle stubs ( preferably what's left from Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year's). But then it probably wouldn't work if you had turkeytofu and soy candles.

Hell I still have maybe 20 or 30 pounds of paraffin in one giant brick laying around, from my fancy candle days. Loved to add real vanilla , use a proper wick ( braided cotton! No lead wire for this kid) and cast em up in various size tin cans. For fancy I would use my soldering iron to carve pretty psychedilc designs on the outside. Or Celtic Golrdian Knots. I will have to make one and throw in vanilla and cinnamon and see what happens.

If you got "the good stuff" ... Some sort of highly condensed / compressed wax ) you could make candles that did not drip but could last for a couple days. I quit making those when I found I could get "plumbers candles" cheaper, and just putthosesuckers in my kit. Warms a small tent right up.

Betwixt waxed rope, the demise of real songwriters,
and incorporating BMX bikes and skateboards into the friggin Olympics,
it IS the EOTWAWKI.

Go for the shirt, Dell. It keep them guessing.

Hey did you know you can make your own pumpkin ball 1.75 inch shotshells and stuff  12 of em into an 870 with the 8 round extender tube? YMMV for number and tweeking for feeding. I kept making dummy shells til I got the length perfect. Or you can load no. 4 buck .

If ya got a mossberg  8 rounder you can get a rubber ramp doohickey and stuff  14 of those little 1.5 inch Aguila shells in.  Goodby elastic Buttstock shell holders.

Prof rambling aimlesslessly.

One oz of copper platted lead BB size aka 50 pellets will make a nasty close range for 28 Gauge.  Still a dozen or so in a drawer at the farm, marked BB on shell with Sharpie.  I always called them Baby Buckshot. ;D

Still some young good ones out there if you search for them.

Niece, step daughter and her latest what ever are helping clean.  Mentioned if Rita is having a nurse come in we need to do a deep cleaning, Sarah the Niece has been moving furniture and doing that routine.   Still dealing with the Bronc, they tell me is combo of smoke and humidity.   :-\

Sucks having to have help, but maybe the big stuff done I can keep it up, Rita will be more useful soon. 8)  Sounds terrible to say it but she has got to the point of not being that useful. ;D  At least for keeping the house clean. ;)

Found a million dog and cat toys and 2 million used chap sticks. :P
