Sharps Firearms by Roy Marcot, et al.

(Also posted on the BROW forum.)

I should probably have asked this question earlier, since I already ordered a copy of this book, but has anyone seen this one?  I had to swallow hard at the price, but this review was so positive that I decided to go for it.  I suspect that Sellers' book may be a better reference, but I appreciated Marcot's book on Spencer firearms enough to order this one sight-unseen.

I'm not the Sharps expert that others here are, so my demands for detailed information are rather low, but this book looked like it might strike a balance between reference book and coffee table book.

Any thoughts?

I'll be interested to hear your opinion. As I said, I'm far from being a Sharps expert; my review will likely consist of, "Oooh. Pretty pictures!"  I managed to find an autographed copy on Abebooks.com for the same price. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I've had one since they first came out. The pictures alone are worth the price, and the information in that book is well worth twice the price.

One of the most interesting things brought out in that book, is the popularity of the "Big 50" myth being pretty much debunked. Sharps only chambered a total of 700 74 rifles. The 45-70 was the most produced chamber, barely edging out the 44-77.
Tons and tons of good info in there.

My copy arrived today.  Wow! This looks like an excellent book! I encourage others to consider the purchase.  Pardon me while I disappear for the next six months or so...
