Stiff loading gate

My Chiappa M1892 rifle is really smooth and works great.  The only issue I note is the loading gate is pretty stiff to push in.  It works fine, but seems unnecessarily stiff. Even the loading gate on my Uberti M1876 is easier to push in than the M1892.  What is the best way to improve this?  Remove the gate and carefully thin the arm a little? I appreciate you thoughts?
