I noted the name Tisdale, a Canadian. There is a town in Saskatchewan, named Tisdale. The "open range" ended in Western Canada about 20 years after its demise on the northern Plains of the US. There was a major winter storm and blizzard in 1906 that wiped out the big ranches. And like in Wyoming the homesteaders, using farming techniques of winter feed and shelter took over the beef business. The Calgary stampede was started in 1912 to preserve the lost arts of the Cowboy.
