Title: PHOTOBUCKET
Post by: Professor Marvel on January 18, 2020, 05:45:15 PM
Off topic, but hey...

After a recent outage Two Flints has been having trouble getting at his photobucket pics.

>There is no way to transfer my photos to any other online photo service . . . once the link is broken, the photos are lost . . .
>It's crazy, I can log onto my account, my name is still there along with my profile info, but I can't upload or download any photos . . .
> I can't see the photos, just the links that are still there, but can't see my photo until I double click on it, and that's all I can do with my photos,
>just look at them, but can't move them out or in.

But I may have a partial solution for this,

If you  can see the photo fine, and  open it in a new window like this photo
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e29/SSSMod/SSSMod3/navyveracruz1914spencershotgun_zpsb5bebffa.jpg

using Firefox I can right-click on the photo and select "save image as"
and it will copy/download the photo onto my computer.

If you can see your links  on photobucket,
at least you have a long list in one spot that you can access.
so by clicking on each one, once you see the photo you can download them individually doing the
"right-click / save as ."

I realize it is a kludge, and iit sucks, but it is better than loosing all your stuff.

I had all kinds of problems with photobucket! So I found and switched to imageshack and very few minor problems. In fact, I've only had a couple problems with them in several years. And using the Windows snipping tool is so much easier & quicker. I even use it to copy receipts on screen to save in a picture sub-folder. Look in the Windows start menu for " snipping tool". (lower left corner of the screen) You won't know how you lived without it!  :D

I performed the time-consuming task that Professor Marvel used.  I had so many images but I was able to say goodbye to Photobucket.  It was a drag but I just didn't
have the energy (not to mention patience) to re-scan everything.   Really wanted to give them a tongue-lashing but decided to just move on.

And then, of course, there's always 128GB flash drives. Boy, do they hold a lot of pics & videos!
