Oh, that looks SO good. I see what you meant about the short grip, but man they are good looking ones.

Kevin, you linked me to Lyman Pachmayer and this grip showed on the site. It might be an option.

I'm going to give the Performance Ctn. OEM's a fair evaluation when the gun is in hand.
I have handled the standard black polymer on regular 642 and they fit my hand,
So, I have reasonable outlook for them.

I pocket carry and this will be my EDC. so, the minimal dimensions are favorable.
The longer pinky finger perch style grips somewhat defeat that desired wish.

Currently, I'm carrying this Mod 36 with classic grips, and I shoot it well.
The 642 is about 7oz. lighter, which was the point, lighter carry.
so, maybe a grip that fills my hand is preferable.

Haven't even taken a pic of the sad little mud puppy I brought home last night. Spent a Cnote on  a really rough looking HiPoint 4095 carbine. I mean they are pretty homely to begin with, but this poor little gun has had a rough life. Gonna tear it down tomorrow, gotta at least get the rust cleaned off the receiver cover and some Rustoleum on it just to stop the  damage. Bore and chamber look good, so there is hope for the little beast.

Vinegar and 4 ougt steel wool. Bear in mind that much of it is Zamak castings ( zinc/aluminum/ magnesium/copper alloy)
Nothing wrong with zanac, it is hell for stout , (tensile strength 58,0000 psi,  shear strength 46,000 psi ) soemwhat heavy, but casts very well with excellent detail. The only downside is the only finish the diy can pull off is some sort of paint. Good luck!

Thanks Professor, but no the interior won't get paint. There is a steel cover over the internal mechanism that has surface rust and some pitting. That's what's gonna get 4ought steel wool and Remoil, then degreased and some Rustoleum BBQ grill paint.

Scrubbed the little beast and it turned out pretty good. Got a red dot mounted and will try to get to the range to sight it in.

Thank you all kindly, its actually the 19th  :)

I had to allow the Sun, Moon and other celestial bodies to line up... but when they did !!! :)

I took it out back and ran some hand loaded wadcutters and a cylinder full of Hornady Critical Defense through it. It is a little snappy, but not punishing.
The trigger is sweet, I don't have a trigger pull gauge, but it feels very good & smooth.
