Title: FNG saying hello from NW Nevada
Post by: DarkLord on November 16, 2021, 11:48:21 AM
Hello all,

New here, just thought I’d introduce myself.  I’m a retired gunsmith and I have a thing for Colt’s and Winchesters, as well as small arms from the Cold War era.  I’m very interested in 19th century guns and ammunition.  I’m not a CAS shooter and have no intention of becoming one, but I just love the guns.

Looking forward to conversing with everyone.

Here's my little Colt collection.  I call it a blue collar collection as there are no fully engraved presentation guns...I've been on a beer budget my whole life.

Welcome from down in the Arizona desert.  Not a thing in the world wrong with that collection.  Some fine weapons are represented there.  I don't have any 'barbecue' guns.  Mine all have signs of being used, which is how I like them.

You'll be at home here as far as 19th Century firearms go.  If you want to jump off the dock into the deep end of the lake...take up black powder cartridge shooting.  Just ask me how addicting that can be!

Dave

Nice little collection.  You may be on a beer budget but you could buy an awful lot of beer with that Python!   ;D  I'm guessing you bought it "back when".  (As did I. My nickled 8" Python was just $600 in around 2001).

Welcome from Arkansas! Is that top right gun a 1917? Cylinder looks a bit short to me.

Talk about my guns?  Well, I don't normally do such things, hahaha...

Clockwise
1916 New Service in .455 Webley
1938 Officers Model Target in .22lr
1979 Python
2011 .38 Super (and those are real elephant ivory grips)
2018 SAA in .45 Colt (and those are real fake ivory grips)
1862 Model 1849 .31 - 6 shot with the less common 6" barrel, all numbers matching and I have the original military flap holster it was carried in (which is a bit fragile)
