Starting with 2020 muster Iowa and Illinois will share the duties. Lt. Col. Long has graciously accepted Div. of Iowa's offer to hold the Dept. every other year. Hopefully this will help some of our western members attend moving farther west. The muster will be held @ Brownell's owned Big Springs Shooting Complex (bigspringsrange.com) approximately 12 mi. south I80 @ exit 182 Grinnell Ia. There will be 3 skirmish, precision pistol, precision rifle ( out to 300 yds.) and a side match @ 500 yards !! Big Springs is an all weather range , with shelter on all four ranges. The shoot will cost $30, lunch and beverage will be provided. Round count has yet to be decided. wd

WD demonstrated this range to me, and it is excellent. This will be a fine match to attend, and a good time of year.
-
I will have to attend.

I will check with Colonel Strong to see if the Gun wants to come along with me. Someone will have to furnish the Gun's feed. Hungry bugger!!!
-
Lt. Col. Long
Keep me posted if the gun is coming. Does it require anything special, or will it eat anything? As long as it's a cast bullet. I'll make sure it has something to eat if it makes the trip.

Lt. Col. Long
20 round mags.? I can't remember.
-
If anyone would remember I would think it would be you Ken! Didn't you spend the whole day feeding the gun(loading magazines)a year ago?
-
Sometimers kicks in a lot anymore.
-
I believe 20 rnd is correct.
-
The general's belief is correct!! Smokeless powder, please... Black is a royal PITA!!?? 20 rounds per mag per shooter. I will get off of my back pockets and either secure permission or not. Will keep you posted.
I have it on my calendar so me and the Illinois mobile command post will attend. Since I got new eyes I ain't got no excuses.
-
Oh yes, WD do you want me to come a couple of days before the shoot to help set up, have a cigar or 2, and share some campfire stories??
-
Primitive camping facilities?
Thanks
-
Yes , primitive camping in the gravel parking lot is allowed.
-
Lt. Col. Long,
I plan on setting up the Friday before the range is pretty busy I can't set it up days in advance.
-
WD, sounds good I' ll be there Friday about noon or so. My trailer is 27 ft that ok for the parking lot?
-
No problem, plenty of room.
-
The Gun has permission and Col Strong has given his blessing. I don't know for sure, but he might attend too. ;D ;D ;D
-
Lt. Col. Long
Thanks for the update, I'll make sure there's plenty of rounds to fed it.
-

Howdy Maj Double!!
Just letting you know that I will give to you a firm yes/no NLT 4 April concerning my attendance for the Dept Muster. Most of the time I don't give 2 dumps as to what is going on, however, my CINC has suggested that I give firm thought before traveling. Additionally, gov picklehead has us on lock down until 7 April.
So, I sure will let you know as to my availability.
Do take care!!

Gentleman, I will keep you posted on the Dept. Shoot. I just learned yesterday that there is one case of Covid19 in our county. The person is in our local hospital. I will make the decision at a later date, ( if any new cases appear) . I'll get with Lt. Col. Long in April.

Planning to attend, but now things are day to day. Exposed to 3 Technologists last week that tested positive. Talked with employee health, no ppe needed, & if I start having symptoms, stay home & call. A half hour after I spoke to employee health, my dental cleaning next week was canceled.
Plain & simple, I probably should not attend, I work in a hospital in Johnson County, (largest number of Covid positives in state). If things track, we will be at 500 by date of shoot.

Talking this over with my better half we came to the conclusion that I should stay home. Her concern is that I am in the high risk zone due to my age of 68 years. So I am going to bow out of the Depart of Missouri Muster. The governor here in Illinois has decreed for us to stay at home until 30 April. I had probably better stay here not only for myself, but for her also.
Ken I am truly saddened that I have to take this action and I hope that we can get this rolling maybe later this year or possibly next. Due take care and I hope to see all sooner than later.

Ladies & Gentlemen of the GAF after talking with Lt. Cols. Long & Sam Perfye , I'm going to Cancel / Postpone the Dept. of the Missouri. Do to COVID 19 travel restrictions / restaurant / bar etc. closings, we feel every ones health/safety is our first concern. On the PLUS side a new date in the fall is being discussed !!
Stay Safe
