I'm been going through the Museum Gun safe
Added a 03 Springfield and a m1917 (Winchester) Enfield to the WW1 exhibit (guns have not been on display because they had not been deactivated) I pulled the firing pins and now they are out in glass cases .
I also pulled a Thompson (current Karr brand) and a 03a3 Springfield for the Dec. 7 display. and will include two Arisaka's
I put a Garand out in the "Battle of the Budge" exhibit as well

I'll post some photos tonight.....

Oh ! btw meet Fritz the turtle  ;D

I'm a bit late with this, but good to meet you, Quentin.  I had a blast and I brought another guy from work.

The Leather Shop / Re: Rifle Scabbards

I never leave leather cased in a plastic bag or anything overnight. There are people who make 'casing' leather a big deal. I just wet the leather and work with it. Like Rube does, I simply wet it as needed while working. I tool what I can and if the project can't be done in one day, which is highly unusual, it can dry overnight and I wet it again when I get back to it.

Yep. My process also. It works for what I’m doing currently.

1860 Henry / Re: 1860 Henry Original or Replica?

It’ll most definitely end up on the wall. Luckily, I have high ceilings. From 12 feet away it might almost look like the real deal…almost.

The Winchester Model 1876 / Re: Magazine tube issue

Sadly that's not uncommon with tubular fed rifles.  Seems to happen more with rifle that have the little magazine hangar that fits into a dovetail on the under side of the barrel vs. the rifles with barrel bands.

I have seen (and own) rifles that had some significant damage to the magazine from that.  Sometimes you have to tap a mandrel down the magazine tube to get it all nice and round again.  But yeah, reverse the tube, cut a new half-moon slot, and reassemble.

Then be mindful of the screw at the end of the barrel.  I actually keep a spare under my buttplate on my Win 94 as it has bit my 3 times over the past 40 years.
