Cimarron Cavalry Scout?
« on: December 21, 2016, 01:19:57 PM »
Howdy all, and Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!  ;D

I've decided that, financials allowing, I'm going to be acquiring another firearm soon. In particular, I'm looking at the Cimarron Cavalry Scout revolver, which appears to be a nickel-plated version of their 7th Cavalry repro. Normally, I'd just go for an Old-style frame SAA repro, but for once I'm being drawn to the flashier option.

I was curious if anyone here had any experiences with this firearm in particular, and Uberti nickel-plated firearms in general. If so, what were your thoughts? Yay or nay? Something else I should get instead?

Thanks for everyone's time in advance.

Best wishes,

Jake

It is as good a choice (and gun) as any.  You are paying more for nickle, of course, plus paying a little more for the military markings.  This is all a matter of personal taste.  Personally, I own and like them all - standard finish, antique finish, and fancy blingy guns.   :)

I owned a nickeled Model P at one time. Never had a problem with the finish. Just keep the Hoppes #9 and other like solvents away from it. I always used Ballisol on mine.

I have owned several Uberti built, Nickel finish guns over the years.  Nice.  No problems any greater than any other Uberti.  Just as easy to set up and tune.  I have however, switched completely to Cap Guns and have sold off most all my Suppository (cartridge) guns.
I do suggest your Smokeless cleaning stuff of choice be "Breakfree."  Don't like Hoppies and Nickel.
Have fun with your NEW GUN!!
