Maybe a WWI Vet? Hmmm... Could a WWI vet shoot his war trophy Mauser 98?I know it's not competitive with a Thompson, but I don't really care about winning it anyway(like there's any chance of that), just to have fun.
Well, not most places, but I'll allow it as long as the ammunition is loaded to GAF specs.

Maybe I'll try something like that....I do have an M-1 Carbine, but I've never tried any lead bullets, and time is getting short for load development.

Oh, almost forgot, check is in the mail.

I've had 2 requests for lodging so far. Will anybody else that will be camping with us need a tent or something to stay in or is everybody else bringing their own?

Bringing a new tent. Still in the box.

Gonna be interesting figuring out the proper way to set it up. 'course, I never seem to do things the proper way.

I'm bringing my tent, but I would like to borrow a couple of your teepee poles if you're not planning to set up the teepee.

& I will be bringing an orange cooler. Found a bag I can cover it with.

Just a quick note about costumes for the Zoot match.  In an attempt to keep it from becoming a military reenactment sport (not that I think that’s bad) Hustler prohibited all military uniforms.  I convinced him to revise that to allow military uniforms if they had a relationship to the prohibition era.  Some examples would be Coast Guard, RCMP or Mexican Federalies.  If you want to wear a 20s or 30s uniform please be creative with your back story.

On the other hand AZSA costumes are really easy.  Just about any Good Will store (you may have to hit more than one) will provide most everything you need.  A bit oversized suit (single or double breasted, with or without a vest, the wider the lapels the better) will be great.  If you’re going to wear a tie with that suit remember to tie it short so it ends at about mid stomach.

How about knickers, very popular in the 20’s and not just for golf but that’s a great AZSA costume as well.  If you can’t find knickers any loose fitting pants bloused just below the knee with a big rubber band will give you the look.  Hang them from a pair of suspenders (even I can sew buttons on a pair of pants) and you’re good to go.

Button up shirts and sweaters were popular but t shirts weren’t.  As a matter of fact what the kids today call a “wife beater” was the t shirt style of choice in that time but it was also rare for someone to go out of the house in just this shirt.

Everyone wore a hat and the first thing everyone thinks about is the fedora, but remember, the snap brim (driver style) hats were almost as popular.  In the west the cowboy hat never gave way to the fedora.  How about a straw boater or skimmer, this was the summer time hat of choice for many a man in the 20s and 30s.

Hope that helps.

Outstanding reply Bat! Thanks!
I wasn't aware of the Uniform prohibition so I'm glad you pointed that out! Not that I own a 1930's uniform. ;)

Sent mine out today.  I'll be shooting Infantry this year.  Unless I'm the only one.  Might change back to Marksman if so.  I'll bring the PPS for the Zoot match.

I’ll leave firearms decisions up to Pitsptr but AZSA rules don’t normally allow .22’s for anyone but juniors if that’s what your PPS is chambered in.  Please bring it in any case I would love to get a look at it.

Frankly, as long as its not a t-shirt, shorts, sneakers and a ball cap, you can pretty much shoot in either match . . .

I suppose you could be a rather old and well armed newsboy . . .

?  The PPS-43 is a Russian Submachine gun chambered in 7.62x25.  Same as the Tokarev TT-33 I'll be pairing it with.  This one is the Radom PPS-43c semi-auto version.

That works!

I was thinking of the new PPS 50/22 in .22lr.

We'll probably stay in town again, but I plan to set up my tent, if only to keep stuff in. And make the camp look more impressive, too. Suppose someone could sleep there if need be.

I think Dusty tends to camp in the Pump and Pantry hotel in Burwell.

At least that's where he camped last year, just a few doors down from us.

Hopefully Black Powder Militia, Pitspitr, as that's the only powder I shoot.

Just a reminder, if you won't be camping and haven't already committed irrevocably to a motel room, that an excellent (albeit perhaps a bit more expensive) place to stay is the Comstock Premier Lodge Bed & Breakfast/ Hunting Lodge .... which is only about 1.5 miles (as the crow flies) from the Muster campground. It is maybe four miles or so around by road .... but significantly closer (and thus much quicker and more "gasoline friendly") than the 25 miles or so from either Burwell or Ord.  Another advantage is that the Saturday night banquet is being held there I understand (unless Jerry has changed that) - very convenient indeed for getting cleaned up and dressed in your finery.

Don't know how the cost compares with the motels, but the regular rate is reduced to $85/night for GAF Muster participants (regularly $110 a night for any of the rooms) ... and for the particularly frugal minded - if you aren't traveling with family and don't mind sharing - there is a 4-single-bed "bunk room" (barracks ?) with an adjacent two-shower "locker room style" bathroom available for the same nightly rate -

Roger and I stayed there for the 2012 Missouri Muster and very much enjoyed it.  If you were there that year, you may remember the proprietors of the Lodge coming by the Muster campsite one evening.  Garry James and I are booked there for this year, sharing a  room with two Queen beds and private bath.

..... Just sayin' .....   ;)

I am bringing Big Bertha also, got the loan of her this weekend at Rock Creek Station.  No she won't destroy any Belgium forts but she will be a useful addition, she belongs to my friend Liz Zahm.

And my new 16 inch, Bertha is a 20 inch and weighs over 50 pounds empty.   :o

I will have my tent as usual but will not have extra space this year because my son will be there with me. Kit Peak camped with me last year.

Col. Pitsptr,  Can you tell me what the average wind velocity is during June/July at your home and from what direction it comes?  Need it for a couple of calculations. Ball park figure will suffice.
