Did a color case hardening on this original that is becoming a Gemmer style rifle. The owner had put a threaded bushing in to repair a loose breech block pin hole. He did as good a job as he could but the case coloring makes it stand out. Perhaps a weld and rebore would of served better. The retainer plate will help cover it some but we can learn something here.

Husqvarna, in the old days, made rolling block sporters that were octagon barrelled, full forestock with two keys and a wiping stick. The concept is similar to the gemmer. Beautiful rifles. That "case hardening" looks great.

Hey Kent,

That's a really nice Colour Case job.  I noted, not only the difference of the bushing, but also the tac weld to secure the bushing also colored a bit differently.  A weld repair, correctly done would be hidden behind the plate.  Still going to be a really good lookin rifle.
