Galen:
I have recently acquired a 1866 iron frame mark Tristar S.A. Ltd.N.K.C. Made in Italy. Does anyone know who made this rifle?
Thank You

Abilene:
I believe you have a Chaparral.  There never was historically an iron frame '66 but Chaparral had a model they called that.  Looks like a '73 at first glance.

Reverend P. Babcock Chase:
Howdy Galen,

That's a new one on me. I have a couple of brass '66's which are my main match rifles (actually carbines). Any chance you could post a photo?

+ 1 to Abilene...Tri Star is an importer in North Kansas City MO.

Abilene:
I may be misremembering and getting confused with the Henry Big Boy, but I'm thinking that the brass '66's that Chaparral sold were actually brass-plated steel.  If that were the case, it would have been easy for them to skip the plating on some and call them iron frame transitional '66's.
