I believe Robert won, temporary custody, of the Iron Trooper award. He has since been inducted in to the 'Bobble Head Gang' featuring his award winning Russian Officer uniform. I will search out a pic for future posting.

Here is Robert Gallardo's Russian uniform, and his matching Bobble Head doll.

Smoke-I don't have any pictures myself, there is one from Good Troy in the AAR for the 2020 grand Muster. It isn't a full length photo, though.

Also, if you want to do Russian navy, those striped long sleeve T shirts used to be available from some online surplus outfits, but they may be gone by now.  That and some blue trousers would do for a shooting uniform, that wool tunic isn't really needed in Nebraska in June!

Robert's 'tunic' is actually a cotton head chef's jacket available at restaurant supply shops. He modified the collar, added pocket flaps and the appropriate trim and insignia. Viola, Bob's your Uncle Rooskie. He's cooking up another outfit for this years gathering on top of the hill at Fort Jerry. Always a grand event, except for the chiggers. Jerry's farm grows the big time. The large ones throw hand fulls of little ones at ya as you walk by!   ;D

 :) Hi Guys  ;)

Not exactly my Baileywick, but since I am of Russian/German descent, I have always been fascinated with the Russian coats with the Cigar Tubes (actually "cartridges") in the little pouches across the chest.

well nuts ... The AHSGR website will be down for maintenance on 3/1 from 6pm – 9pm CST. Thank you for your patience while we update our site.

I was given a Mosin Nagant, but it's not a Hex Receiver.
I shot it once with 3 rounds of surplus ammo, I won't make that mistake again.  It has an elevated spot on the wall now.

Russian surplus ammo is heavy MG ammo.  Hot stuff in a light rifle.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

IIRC the Heavy ball was what Lyudmila Pavlichenko used in her Mosin Sniper rifle.

Lady Death https://www.amazon.com/Lady-Death-Memoirs-Stalins-Greenhill/dp/1784382701 is a good read.

While she was a Soviet citizen she would have identified as Ukrainian, not Russian

When I had the occasion to shoot it, It still belonged to a friend and it was his ammo...
He moved down State and did not want to take the MN, so he offer it to me as a gift.
Being a hopeless gunaholic, I of course accepted. The gun came with several boxes of the surplus ammo.
I have no intention to shoot it...but might one day reload for it if the notion suits me.

There is some Russian light ball also.  Any heavy ball is a kicker in a 91/30.

It looks good up there.
But should I run across light ball ammo, it could come down :)

When you all are talking about light versus heavy ball, what kind of weights are we talking... I think my spam cans are lighter, but I may need to find a reference sheet to make sense of these markings... I was thinking of using some 155 (or there abouts) lead powder coated gas checked to make up rounds... reloading is a whole nother concern here.

Major, those rifles do beg for a slip on recoil pad! Especially the short barreled ones...

If you kinda squint and looking closely, you can see the somewhat discoloration on the butt stock from a rubber slip-on...
I can't remember if it was on the gun when Dennis had it and I shot it years ago.
It was on it when he gave to me, and it was somewhat ratty and disintegrating.
For wall hanging I pulled it off. Kevin, that is your bayonet on the other end though.

If I were to reload for the Mosin, I'd use a .312 Diameter, 167 Grain FP - Groove less, Hi-Tek Coating from
Missouri Bullet Co.
https://missouribullet.com/details.php?prodId=419&category=6
and Trail Boss though I have never worked up a load for the Mosin.

I have and do use this bullet and Trailboss, in my Enfield No 1 Mk III with satisfying results.

Perhaps, this has sidetracked the OP's thread, "Russian Persona" which caught my eye, and the reason
I read and then kinda chimed in... highjack, sorry.
I enjoy the research and the accessories and uniforming that may follow.

Tell you what, how about planning the visit in late June or early July, then you could attend the Grand Muster

I see there are some questions regarding my Imperial Russian impression. I found a source in Russian for many of the elements of my uniform. The link to the site is - military-ussr.in.ua . The tunic was in plain white the piping, buttons and shoulder boards were added. Color of trim and stripes on pants are dependent on which Cossack group you are representing. I initially planned on using a Nagant revolver but was disappointed with accuracy. Opted instead on a S&W Russian. Early ammo pouches were sourced on Amazon and holster made to match by my buddy Blue Bonnet.  The chefs tunic that I used was for my Swiss Fusilier impression. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

It's a pretty nice little museum. My wife's sister-in-law ran it until her retirement.
For 5 years (seemed like 5 centuries!) I lived in the "Russian Bottoms" a few blocks west of there.  Nice little museum, best part of the neighborhood as far as I was concerned.
In my book a pioneer is a man who turned all the grass upside down, strung bob-wire over the dust that was left, poisoned the water, cut down the trees, killed the Indian who owned the land and called it progress.  Charles M. Russell
