Good morning folks! 41 here right now with falling temps. A flannel shirt and good coffee are the order of this morning. Coffee's on and I'm on my way to have lunch with my Pastor.

The Powder Room - CAS reloading / Re: Question About Primers

Never messed with magnum primers but you might save a little powder by lightening the amount of powder to get the same velocity and felt recoil. Load some and compare to your standard cas load. I’ve swapped all of my spp for lpp and will use srp in my 45acp- 455 Webley and .38s. Not reloaded any for .38 yet but they work fine in my small primer .45 acp and Webley brass.

NCOWS / Re: The story of an 1870's buffalo hunt

Went back and read this again and one line really cracked me up.   "there were but four in our party, my brother Cal. You remember him. He was County Judge of Loup County for more than twenty years. Then there was another brother and a neighbor and myself"
There was another brother, boy if that does not speak volumes of a family dynamic, I do not know what does, a description and name of a brother who was a judge.  Now I want to know about another brother.
Yeah, it would be interesting to know which of the 6 other brothers was the "other brother" It looks as though one could eliminate John and Warren. Warren died in the 1850's and John apparently never left Pennsylvania. So that leaves Charles Marvin(Curtis), Charles Sherman (Ehem...yes John), Milton D, or Allen Willis Bennett Copp. If I had to guess I would guess it was Curtis Because it seems he and Grandfather Copp were close, but my second guess would be Charles, because he died in Saunder Co. (The origin of the hunt)

The Powder Room - CAS reloading / Question About Primers

I am gearing up to load some modern .44 Colt rounds and, in this day in time, all I can find are large pistol MAGNUM primers. Will these work with my cowboy loads? Will I need to adjust my powder charge? I have heard that these are too hot for what I need but have also heard that they will work fine.

Morning all.

Currently 25. We got a total of about 4” of fresh white stuff yesterday and through the night. Supposed to be marginally sunny today.
