After Action Report - September 2012 Illinois Muster

Thirteen troops of the Divisions of Illinois and Wisconsin were all that remained of  a patrol searching for the perpetrators of continued attacks on the settlement of Winnebago, Illinois. Facing extremely long odds, the brave troopers of this command were trapped behind enemy lines, low on ammunition and supplies, and desperately needing to return to Fort Sackett. Fortunately all thirteen were skilled marksmen and snipers.

The body count after the battle was 845 enemy combatants killed by gunfire, thirteen killed by saber, and thirteen killed by bayonet. The patrol only suffered one wounded (played convincingly by a dummy) and through the brave efforts of all thirteen members of the patrol he was able to return to the fort. He is recuperated enough to complain about his handling by certain members of the patrol.

Hardtack privately supplied  by Captain Wyatt sustained the patrol during the fight. Several troopers stated that motivation to get back to the fort was the noon mess prepared by Mess Sgt. Mrs. Shamrock and assisted by Mess Cpl. Shamrock Kid Two.

Thirteen shooters participated in the September 2012 Illinois State GAF Muster. Results as follows:

Scout

1. Michael F. Desider - Kid Mike
2. Tim Ewald - Twitch Tumbleweed
3. Dave Punzel - Ninety Seven
4. John Clint - Johnny Popper
5. Don Long - Msgt. S. H. Long GAF #700
6. Michael L. Desider - Chicago Outlaw Sider
7. Ray Unrine Jr. - Capt. Wyatt
8. Keith Leoni - Sierra Leoni

Milspec -Single Shot

1. Doug Strong - Sgt  G. W. Strong GAF #774
2. Jim Zinkel - I. M. Portly

Staff  Officer

1. Pat Gannon - LtC. Shamrock Gannon GAF #447

Buffalo Scout

1. John Saffron - Trooper Johnny McCrae GAF #644

Cadet & Milspec Repeater

1. Charles Strong - Moose Wrangler GAF #781

After noon mess five members of the patrol were mysteriously transported to the Expansion Era and participated in a Wild Bunch style side match. Results as follows:

1. Jim Zinkel - I. M. Portly
2. Pat Gannon - LtC. Shamrock Gannon GAF #447
3. Doug Strong - Sgt  G. W. Strong GAF #774
4. Charles Strong - Moose Wrangler GAF #781

Thank you so much for the excellent match. Your hard work was evident and the match went off without a hitch! I am ready to do it again.

As a side note The Colonel and I are scouting a range that will allow a different location for a GAF shoot. This club has a 200 yard line as well as a cowboy range. I hope this bears fruit. It will allow us to host at two different locations, one of which is significantly farther West in the state.  It is really not all that far from Iowa. This may help draw in new GAF shooters.

Here is a group shot taken by the Colonel.
Notice the qality uniforms!
The leftmost guy (Sierra Leoni) in the back row and the rightmost guy in the first row (Capt. Wyatt) were both at their first GAF musters and are fully kitted out in uniform. I am proud to say I recruited both of them.
