Glad to hear that you received more supplies to feed your Vetterli, RCJ.

Also glad for Translate with Bing, I only know a couple of words in French. My French Foreign Legionaire is an American that found himself in Europe, and joined up. Fortunately he understands some German and 25% of Legionaires were German anyway........

I learned a couple of weeks ago that it's best if I keep those kinds of comments to myself.

Round Count for 2013 Grand Muster???
« Reply #28 on: September 26, 2013, 12:30:07 AM »
Other than RCJ's cryptic question: "how many rifle rounds and how many pistol out of that 45 targets total?" (.... where did the reference to 45 targets come from?....) and Trap's equally cryptic response: "35 should get you through the MAIN MATCH if you don't miss many" .... I have seen nothing about the round count for Muster.

Did I miss something?

I probably have to set out on my journey this coming Monday, so I am busy getting stuff ready, and need to know!  Help!

     GAF Grand Muster entry form...
...Friday will be the long range rifle, and other possible side matches.
Saturday will be the first stage of the main match, skirmish style with knock down targets (around 30 )
Sunday will conclude the main match, Skirmish, (10-15 targets )...
Great to hear that you will be able to make it this year. I have had some of your .303 brass riding around in the pickup for the last year. Don't let me forget to give it back to you.

OBTW you'll be glad to know that I'm using real powder again this year!  ;) You missed it last year.  How's Eben doing? I pray for him every morning.

Since it is a walk through/no miss match, round count is a tough call, there will be approx. 50 targets to knock down in the main match. 30-35 rifle 15-20 pistol. So # of misses is the unknown factor. Long range match requires 10 shots. EOE (short) side match, 15-20 rounds P&R.  Hope this helps.   jt

In case you missed the separate post, the Sat. eve Festivities will be indoors.

So will the long range match be the same format as last year (10 alternating shots on 2 steel targets) or will it be something different (such as a paper target)?

Jerry, Ebin is doing incredibly well ..... undoubtedly due in no small part to the prayers of folks like yourself!

From being first diagnosed with leukemia on September 21, he immediately went into an eight-month intensive treatment program, with the result that the theme of his birthday party  this year was "I'm Three and Cancer Free!"  This story just appeared in the local newspaper today - http://medicinehatnews.com/news/local-news/2013/09/disney-world-wish-coming-true-for-hat-youngster/#.UkWPfREWd0M.facebook

I'm not too worried about the .303 brass - I have buckets full of it, and it only seems to hold out for about 4 reloads, at best, anyway ....  Good to hear you are using "real gunpowder" this year!
(Mind you, is "really real" or merely one of those dad-blasted "substitutes"?   ;)  )

I look forward to seeing everybody - any updates available on registrations, Books?

It's "really real". I never had much success with the subs.

How are you doing Steve?

I'm OK. I came through the surgery better than anyone expected & I'm healing up from that. Been back to school for a couple weeks but haven't put in a full week yet. Had to take today off to start another round of chemo. Spent a little over 5 hours at the hospital & have to wear a pump till Sunday, then do it again in a couple weeks.  I'm optimistic - I'm thinking maybe next year I can make it to muster instead maybe next year I'll still be around.

Don't know how to post an entire album of photos on this board, but they are here:  https://www.facebook.com/dave.vanderpool.9/media_set?set=a.10200677327246891.1073741827.1572232818&type=1

Seems that link only works if you are a FB user (if it logs you in automatically).  This one should let EVERYBODY view the photos:
