USFA CSS / Re: Stainless rodeo?
« Last post by yahoody on Today at 07:52:59 PM »
No stainless Rodeos.

There were how ever China Camp guns that were shipped in the white.  Normal steel, with no finish.  I've seen more than one advertised as a "stainless" USFA.   Nice guns.  We still have a pair.  They are blue now.

USSFA wrote them up like this:
"The China Camp Cowboy Action Gun in our patented Silver Steel Competition Finish"

Total BS of course.

Thanks Ron, now that you mention it, I'd love to get a copy of Flaydeman's book. I haven't put together a knife in years and they were never Bowies; just little patch knives and other working knives.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I've never seen a repro, but I've always thought it was an interesting design.

It's one of those objects that many years from now, when your heirs are disposing of your estate, they'll ooh and ahhh over it and ask themselves "What the hell is this thing?".

Forgot, had regular Dr appointment on Tuesday, avocet nurse from insurance company caught up with me finally and wanted an A1C and a Vitamin D test, A1C looks good, not perfect but good, Vitamin D is in the toilet, now on supplements, diet should have taken care of it even with out much sun but one of my meds can drain it, may explain why I get tired easy.

Also applied for disability today, should go through no problem, had planned on working PT some when I did it at 62, reality, it likely ain't going to happen, will bump me up to where it would have been if I waited to 66 1/2.   Probably should of a year ago, but didn't want to admit it.   Do plan on cooking this year including the Muster.

If anyone is interested I am planning a Dutch Oven Gathering  September 17-19th at Rock Creek Station State Historical Park if anyone is interested.   Not all true historical cooking, a weekend of friends, cooking lessons, recipe exchange and just plain old Pot Luck meals from some of the finest dutch oven cooks in the country.   More in Cosies later.

MY USFA is a Single Action, .44 Special, 4 3/4" all dome blue (no casehardening) Model listed on box is "SA"The serial number is 28657. Grips are black checkered hard rubber. Total cost was $872.81 out the door.

I ordered the gun in 2009, but didn't receive it until August 24, 2011. The gun was ordered through a local gun shop initially as a Rodeo II. I had to pay an additional $100 "special order" charge because .44 Spl. was not a listed caliber - only .45 Colt and .38 Spl were available for Rodeo II's. Then USFA discontinued nickel plating after a long delay, and ran out of .44 barrels. Finally my gun store called me to say that USFA was ready to ship my 5 1/2' CCH and I said "Wrong gun!" Finally Gary Grainger called me and we settled on the all blued 4 3/4" .44 Spl. Single Action, probably in June of 2011. He said he would add a .44-40 cylinder to compensate me for the wait. That didn't happen, and the gun arrived at my LGS 2 months later, in August 2011.

I hope this information is helpful.

I keep thinking of it as a table top amusement, like you sometimes see at finer Waffle Houses.
