5-Button Sack Coat
« on: June 12, 2008, 02:35:56 AM »
Hello.

Can anyone provide me with information as to what year the 5-Button Sack Coat replaced the 4-Button Civil War type Sack coat?...I am working on a persona of a 1868-70 "retired" 1st Sgt,  Civil War Vet, now out west as a scout and pathfinder.

When did the chevron style change from Civil War to the Indian War chevrons?

Thanks a bunch!

General Order # 76 dated July 27, 1872 changed the Cheverons.
The piped Five button sack replaced the very unpopular 1872  fatigue plaited blouse in 1874.
The CW issue 4 button fatigue sack however was still in QM stores and were still issued later to western troops.

when planets align...do the deal !
