I've got another one of those knitting needles around here somewhere, came off my Chinese Mosin Nagant. Not sure exactly WHERE, I just know it's not on the rifle.

Have a question. How well would an I-pad wireless work there in town at Sargent? There's a place we can rent in town, but no internet provided. Wife wouldn't survive that. We have an ATT I-pad,

Well, this is Verizon country. I don't know how crossing over networks works, but I get good signal from my phone and my tablet.

Correction: Wife's Iphone is ATT, not really sure what the Ipad is, I know about as much about her toys as she knows about mine. The I-pad is currently not connected to anything, we just use it at home or wireless hotspots(which I assume aren't plentiful in Sargent)

Question for the Match Director -

Jerry:  As you know, I am entered in Black Powder Rifleman, with the intention to shoot the main match entirely with a Snider-Enfield, to be in keeping with my circa 1866-70 Canada Militia Infantry field uniform.  With the time fast approaching when I must depart, I am in the throes of finishing up my loading.  Due to a mis-count, I find that I don't have enough bullets ready to ensure that I have a sufficient number of loaded .577 Snider rounds to complete the main match -  depends on how much I miss, I suppose .... something which may be a bit more likely than usual while shooting a Snider!  Time is too short to set up another casting session .....

Anyway, I have nearly 50 Martini-Henry rounds loaded already and could switch to a M-H as a "back-up" .... but am wondering if it would somehow adversely affect eligibility for a field uniform award if i must use a (slightly) "period incorrect" firearm in the main match?

As another possibility, I do have my reproduction 56-50 Spencer rifle on my import permit, and also have a fair number of rounds loaded for it.  It is "period correct" for my impression .... but of course is a repeater.  Would I be permitted to use it as a backup in the main match, provided I "single load"?  (Mind you, maybe everyone would concede that the Spencer is so inefficient as a repeater .... i.e. half-cock hammer, work the clumsy action to eject shell and chamber another, full-cock hammer, fire, repeat .... that it really offers no advantage over firing a Snider, anyway ....   ;D  )

The Library has free wireless. The School has a public wireless network. I would think she should be able to turn her Iphone into a wireless hotspot, at least I can with my Droid.

I don't recall there being a requirement that the uniform and rifle exactly match. At the same time I'm wondering if you forgot that you will be judging uniforms this year?  ::)

Well, I do prefer that everything "goes together" as much as reasonably practicable ... which is why I think it might be neat to use the Spencer .... of the approximately 3,000 Model 1865 Spencer rifles (i.e. as opposed to carbines) that were produced, 2,000 came to Canada and into the hands of the Militia to meet the Fenian threat .....

But yes .... I did forget I'd be judging costumes this year ..... guess that means I can't win, eh?   ;D

I called Comstock, seems they are booked up for a wedding, aside from the rooms already rented to RSJ, they also have a separate place she mentioned, for $110 a night, no mention was made of the special shoot price. :( There's another place in town, for about $60, I picked up a "mobile hot spot" using Verizon, since they don't have any internet in that house.

Col Pitspitr, I am bringing my camera and the GoPro gear for filming. Should make some interesting video with the GoPro. Nice 1st person perspective.

Thanks!

The rifle action determines the shooting classification, use the M-H.

No shot, you're the classiest guy in the outfit.  (Well, there was that altered image of Her Majesty . ..)

Hey everyone.
maj. Bow View checking in.

I will be attending the GRAND muster this year.  Loading the wagon and starting the treck in a couple days.
I hope I don't get in too much trouble for being AWOL.
I should arrive at camp sometime on Thursday.
shooting a trapdoor rifle and converted Remington revolver with smokeless, and a p17 enfield and 1911 for expansion.
might have for sale the p17, 2 converted Remington revolvers, a pietta nickel colt and maybe an emf 1873 in.45 colt..
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Glad to see you're gonna make it, Bowview! Sounds like you're gonna sell about everything you came with but the Trapdoor and 1911. What sort of converted Remington is it? 1858 with Kirst or an Uberti factory job?

Glad to hear it Bowview.  Bring some extra ammo for the enfield, I'd like to try it out.

It may have been posted somewhere else but I can't find it.  How many rounds will be necessary for the skirmish format portion of the Expansion Era Match?  Given it's half day duration I can't imagine anything near 120 rifle and 100 pistol will be necessary.  Inquiring minds want to know.

Bat, I don't know if it will be the same as last year, but I took 50 rifle with me, and used them all(Missed a LOT, forgot to change to my "glasses that let me see the sights clear and target blurry") I think I had 3 mags for my 1911.
