M1833 Foot Artillery Sword

Anybody know where to find one other than Ebay?  I am not 100% sure that is the exact nomenclature, but it is close.

Original or reproduction?

Real ones will be found on those sites aimed towards the Civil War collecting fraternity, and any one of the Civil War magazines will have ads for those firms.

Reproductions mostly come from India and 'Windlass Steelcrafts' - sold through Atlanta Cutlery, International Military Antiques, Dixie Gun Works and several reenactor suppliers will have those.

Scouts Out!

Hi
A website called Kult of Atena has an 1832 Foot Artillery Sword on back order.  I'd look closely at it before you buy it to be a stitch counting reennactor, but if you want something close it might be fine to actually use.

I purchased my Saxon seax from Kult of Athena, and it's a quality made, historically correct reproduction.

Hi John

I got an Ames Rifleman's knife and an 1880 US Army Hunting knife, both are well made useful tools, but both are at least 1.5 to 2 inches too long, and the Hunting knife is too wide, but will be useful if I can get them sharp.  I.E. read the measurements before you buy one.  They import Windlass and those are better.  Mine aren't Windlass.

I will throw in my plus 1 to Kult of Athena.   I do not have any of their pieces, but have handled some.   All good and most fairly accurate.

I got extremely luck a few years back and scored an actual 1850 foot officers sword for the price of a quality repro.  Some where in its history some fool dipped it in something to take of the rust but it is still functional without the etching and light
