I have risen, shone, burned out, gone back to bed, and risen again, but I ain't shinin' this time, and I used up the coffee.  :-[

Warm, and gonna get warmer.  The progno-stink-ators are tellin' us we're gonna get real hot this next week, probably runnin' a few degrees to either side of 115 for few days or so --- that's just HOT, no matter how ya' measure it.  Oh well.

I'm gonna go slog through the rest of the day.

Later.

I go for my 2 week checkup on the LASIK surgery next Wednesday. I'm driving without glasses, something I have not since 1962. The right eye was the worst, so I got it done first. The left eye is scheduled for the 30th. The Cawffee and Hot water are on the stove.

That is great to hear, Tex.

The fridge broke. The new one is being delivered tomorrow afternoon.

Taking a kid and horse to the fairgrounds in the morning.

Liquids are hot and ready!

Grilled corn on the cob and deep fried buffalo wing for supper tonight.

Our cool speel bottomed out yesterday, and were starting a warming trend.  Mid 70's today and climbing.

I'll see you there in a few days, can't get away from work until Thursday, will be an all day road trip. Travelling solo this time, soooo not so many extra stops and delays. But then, it's only me driving, so no switching drivers for a nap, either.

Thanks for the coffee, Slim.  I'll get some tea later in the day.  I could use it.  The A/C has been out at the house since Thursday.  Should be fixed today.
I've two days of work this week, followed by two days of driving.  Look forward to sharing a cup of coffee with you later in the week in person.

HOT!!! And I don't mean the coffee, although it is almost too warm to drink very quickly, thankee.

This little heat spell is a warm one, already 103 at 1100 this morning.  NWS says it was 108 or thereabouts yesterday, supposed to be 112 today, and 115 tomorrow.  Ah, summer in the desert; it's a long way to October.

What do you know, I'm still alive! :P :P :P

Hey y'all, I know I'm a little late, but at least I'm here, right?  :)

So, here's my news.

I'm officially gradumatated.  actually, I have been for over a month, but I've been readjusting to the "land of the living."   Now I've just about resurrected, and I'm ready to actually do some stuff.

In vehicle land, we've had a stroke of luck.  We managed to sell the stupid subaru and buy a 2010 Ford Explorer, so my mom is happy.  I sold my Ranger (I think I said that earlier this year...) and got a new truck.  And by new, I mean a 1995 F150. ::)  And it is named "The Eggplant (alternately depending on traffic conditions, "The Flying Purple Prius Eater"  ::) )."

In author land, I've sent a couple stories in to an online publication for publicating. I'm also around 3/4 done with my novel I've been writing (yes, the one I've been working on since before I joined this forum four years ago).

I also started a YouTube channel.  I've got four videos up right now, and almost 30 total views.  Not to mention my 2 subscribers.  ::)

At work, I've got a new rifle coming. I've got nearly $1500 in credit towards a rifle, so I'm deciding between a new Winchester (not sure which), a Remington 700, a Cimarron High wall 45-70, a Marlin 1895 and a new AR.  And I am taking suggestions.

Okay, enough of that.

Glad to see you're still kicking, TK. For your rifle suggestions: There's really no "rem-chester-by_ that would interst me, and if I was to get an AR, it'd have to be as close as possible to the ones Uncle Sam let me use, just a couple years post Vietnam. OK, maybe it shouldn't rattle as much as that one did. Slow twist skinny barrel, triangle handguard, etc.

Anything in 45-70 is cool, but remember, heavy loads in an 1895 Marlin will shake you up pretty good!

Slim: I'll see you in a few days, should arrive in camp late Thursday.

Edit: Forgot to mention, while I'm not too interested in any of the "Remchesterby" offerings, there's something that I like about the Ruger bolt actions. Since I really prefer milsurp rifles, maybe it's the dogleg bolt handle making me think of 1914/1917 Enfields.
