Hooked on cawboy guns
« on: March 23, 2021, 08:04:18 PM »
Hey, how Ya’ll doin,
I’ve been shootin all my adult life, when I got out of the army in 1972, I started reloading, and pretty much kept on shootin the AR-15, ( closest rifle I could get to the M16) and a Colt 1911. Since then I went to long range F class with great success. About three yrs ago while visiting a service buddy in Ohio, we went to a cawboy action shootin match. I really got bit by the cawboy gun bug. I watched some of those guys do some amazing things with those cawboy guns, I’ll tell ya Wild Bill and Wesley Hardin would stand a chance against some of the guys at that match, I take my hat off to all of you. Since then I’ve bought a Henry Goldenboy, an 1894 Marlin in .44 mag, an 1892 Winchester( Miroku) in .45 Colt, a Heritage Bigbore in .45 Colt, an Uberti Cattleman Birdshead in .357 mag. I don’t shoot competition, but I got some steel plates set up at the end of the property and shoot the cawboy guns on a daily basis, when my dad passed he left me 3 Colt SAA’s that he never fired, I don’t fire them either except for one day a yr, June 27 th  I load up a cylinder full on each one and shoot em to honor his birthday. But shame on me, since I started shootin the cawboy guns I haven’t touched my modern guns.

I agree completely. Modern day semi-auto firearms are just boring. I own a few but they rarely ever come out of the safe. Cowboy action is where it's at.

Yeah cawboy guns are just too much fun. When I trained with my modern semi autos it was serious business, with those cawboy guns it’s relaxing and pleasurable. I built a nice table, got a few chairs, a radio, and  a thermos of hot black coffee, it just don’t get no better than that.

Been shooting cowboy guns since 1972. I just don't care that much about the modern stuff.  :D

I’ve rarely met a gun I didn’t like. It amazes me the skill to invent something like that from scratch. Thank you John Browning, Samuel Colt, Eugene Stoner, Garrand, Bill Ruger, Winchester, Remington, And a whole host of others involved in the industry.

Welcome to the cas club Paul. I also love them all as long as they’re old, walnut and steel. No tupperware in my safe.  Find yourself a good cas club and ring some steel.
