Hunting wild boar with nothing but dogs and a knife!  Umm...no.  I would have to borrow Stump's S&W .44 mag for that thank you very much.

It would be great to get over there to shoot with y'all though.  May have to see what we can work out. ;D

Pigs are stupid ungainly animals. Here in NZ the real "pig hunter" goes in with a kife.

Check out pig hunting in NZ, there is lots of photos of this as it is a favourite sport over here.

200+ lbs of wild tuskers.

Lots more to do here. All sorts of hunting, fishing, CAS adrenilin sports

If you do make it to OZ then we are only 1200 miles away.

or even have her go after a Captain Cooker with a nice pig sticker.

Maybe we could get Stump to do the later.

Nothing like hunting a wild boar with nothing but a knife and a pack of dogs.

Uhhh... Dai,  I have an aversion to gashes on my person.  'Specially those inflicted by the tusks of wild hogs.  Since, I've been told, that the tusks of wild hogs have on them.... wild hog slobber.  And wild hog slobber has been known to carry all sorts of nasties... perhaps even "swine" flu.  :)

Four simple words:  Three... Hundred... Winchester... Magnum.   ;D

Always someone there with a back up rifle.

Carbines are best. .44 mag will do the trick. Heard of them being taken with a well placed .223

NZ bush is very heavy and dense.

In the mid 70's it was reckoned that the average red deer was shot at no more than 40 yards, visibility less than that some places.

Check out this site for photos, most used rifles, the bottom photo is of someone who used a pigsticker.

There gotta be about 40 ways of calling someone a bastard in this country and only one of em is going to get ya shot, mostly its a term of endearment.
All this talk of pigkilling with a knife reminds me of my pig hunting days in Vanuatu back in the late 70s didnt use a knife  but did use a crossbow (with a 12 guage as a backup) good fun it was unless you had to spend some time in the waitawhile bush which occassionally happened if the pig charged ya and ya both missed

Hell!  He's gettin' "piggy backed"!

I never thought of that but yes he does look happy at not having to walk to the pot doesnt he?

So Stump, you on for a pig hunt then, I'll find the right boys and make sure they get a  real Capt' Cooker for you.

Hear of them going to 150 kg  (350lbs) or more.

Camille we could just go possuming or after a couple of red deer. Something easy.

Usually we just extterminate them.

Some people skin them

Some mix the fur with wool and make fine sweaters from it.

Me I just shoot em and team them to replenish the soil.
