All, new member here but I've been reading on here for a long time. Still new to the Sharps and have been a reading fool on the subject. I thought I'd post photos of a carry case I re-did for my Model 1874 Quigley rifle. A little while back I put a 32" reproduction brass scope on it but had to create an additional length of brass to reach the end of the muzzle end. Sort of looks like a gas line running on top of the rifle. As my eyes aren't as they were, a simple scope addition was becoming necessary. But anyway, it needed somewhere to go now as it's a pretty good length and height now. I bought a ratty old gun case cheap from a gun shop a while back and re-did it to more match the era of the rifle. I thought it might be nice for others to see how one can bring back to life an old case - at least something to keep the rifle protected (it weighs a metric ton to carry now). But it has cross sticks, cleaning items and rod, and a place for the rounds. It's nothing special and serves as a good place to keep the rifle in.

Thank you for the kind words! I've done a few Colt presentation style cases as well. But I needed something to keep the rifle in and was trying to keep it as close to Period as possible, given what it was. Just something different.

That is really nice. I wish I had the skills to do something like that for my rifle. Or enough money to pay someone to do it!

BB, no real skill necessary. Most of my projects are usually in I chartered territory as far as knowing what something should look like or how it should be made. Just drive on and make it your own in whatever way you can or know how. If there was just one way, everyone would have the same things. I don't know how many versions constructed for a sheath of a simple mountain man knife I've seen and different ways I've seen the same style tacks put into the leather. Make these things your way.
Most of my projects are done in the super cheap/free or I couldn't hardly do them anymore. Know that if you start one, you've definitely got some free help and advice here. ;)

Excellent work My Good Rayman!
To my eye it duplicates some of the original Buffalo Hunter cases, and would look well in any museum.

Why, thank you. One day I might build a wood case but it's hard to not build something that's going to weigh a lot.
