50F and drizzle.

A nice thing about having heart problems is I don't have to do work on cars, shovel snow or mow the grass. The bad thing is there is a lot of things I shouldn't do that I wish I could. :-[

Yeah so I heard, dealing with an old non-heart related problem,  makes me tired, then I fell the other night, nothing broken just bruised good on the left side,  X-rays show no breaks.

Glad to hear from ya, quit fooling around, it's that cheap booze again, ain't it?
Glad nothing was broken, I know I don't bounce as good anymore either.
Temps dropped here today, just ran in the 40s, but sunny. Supposed to get a bit rainy here this weekend, which will make things interesting for Monday. We are right in the prime eclipse path and predicted to have 20,000 to 30,000 folks here on Monday which will be a bit overwhelming for our town of 7,000.

Hiya Slim and crew. Slim try to stay warm today, it's 52 here and sunny, supposed to hit 65. Gonna take the Missus out to lunch in a bit and run a couple errands. Our goal is to stay in the house, except for Church Sunday, this weekend because it is already getting nuts around here with folks coming in for the eclipse Monday. Our gun store is even closing, just so we don't have to deal with the "entitled whiners" who are already stating they will park wherever they feel like.

In July 1957 I was 9 years old, and recall the Guerrero, Mexico City quake.
It was 7.9 magnitude, my folks, sister and I were in Mexico.
We had, spent the last 2 weeks in Chapala and stayed in Mexico City the night before.
That very day we were at Popocatépetl volcano (43 mi) southeast of Mexico City.
The night it happened we were in villa about 100 miles away, it hit about 3AM.
I was asleep and woke as my bed marched/danced around the room  :o
Where we were, there was the felt shocked, but no damage, Mexico City was devastated.

Sorta true, you may not have felt one, but you were in one the night it rained bad and we slept at Jerry's house.  The epicenter was about 40 miles west of us.  They had one one time during school and everyone but Jerry.  He was on a ladder hammer drilling.

We had one in KC about 10 years ago.  Go back to 69 or 70 we lived in western tennessee.  It is actually one of 2 earliest memories.   I was 3 or 4 and the quake on the new madrid shook my bed across the room.  It left an impression.

Still alive here.

Going to have a lapro surgery on the 23rd.  Slim will remember when it was a common occurrence.  Well I want you to know it's been 17 years thanks to newer methods.

Actually been dealing with them for a couple years again but not as bad as sometimes.  Was in the hospital for 5 days Nov of 2022.   Rita got cancer and I put this on hold as long as I could and I got by till she was better.  One reason I seemed to disappear for a while the last year.  They would give me pain meds and such and was either sleeping or taking care of her.

I passed my tests, surgery will go as planned Tuesday.

We are seriously looking for something smaller, maybe an assisted care.  The dog was going to be the stumbling block but recently someone of the medic field had a suggestion.  Took care of the problem, he ain't a beer fetching type service dog, probably get a blind person ran over.  Dr is doing me a letter also.  I think it was to easy, but plan on using it if they say no doges.  The one we've been looking at says 25 pounds max, but this will null and void it.  You all know how he kept me on a straight and narrow and almost had a stress related heart attack in Sept and on an anti-stress med.

And no I ain't going to take him to grocery stores and such.  I don't think he'd like riding in the cart. ;D

Dr is going to write me up a letter saying he helps me with my stress, which he does.

That is very good. I have two other friends with working/supports dogs.
One is vision impaired, not totally blind but can't see squat after dusk.
The other has a fib and the dog is support- alert and carries meds.

My dog "Blaze" has his credentials having graduated advanced training.
He goes on wellness visits to recovery & assisted living places.

I just received this morning an email from Harbour Freight, say's I have won a Pittsburg Tool Set.

Scammers are doubling efforts to rip off internet users by impersonating the hardware store chains like Harbor Freight Tools in emails and on websites. The fake "free" offers presented by scammers in a variety of different emails included a "170-Piece Stanley Tool Set," "Milwaukee Power Drill," "DeWalt Power Station," and other products.
I have received other similar email scams including Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace and others.

The links in all of the emails, began with a survey and ended with a hidden subscription scam. The survey is fake, meaning that no one was going back and checking users' answers to compile any data.

Scroll over or otherwise hover over the “from” in the email.
That will usually show an obvious “not from harbor freight adress”

Also, scroll or hover over the link, similar results.

Also also, do not bother to try to “unsubscribe” from anything anymore, it just confirms to the bad players that they have a live email

Going for groceries, Rita is making shrimp mac and cheese tonight, I'm making Sloppy Joes tomorrow and some homemade bread, going to make plenty and freeze.  Going to make extra iced tea and put it in quart jars undiluted.  Give us stuff for the rest of the week without having to do much.  A friend of Rita's is taking her and my youngest taking me, different hospitals.  Then Rita's daughter is going to pretend she is a responsible adult and going to stay here Tuesday night.  We are both supposed to do it outpatient but things can change.

Slept in this morning, felt pretty good. Supposed to hit 77 and sunny today, then rain rolling in the rest of the week starting tomorrow with mild temperatures. Picked up a Kahr CT380 yesterday as an "always" gun, nice little beast that gives me enough grip for my oversized paw to hang on to. Del, Praying here for you both.

Boy o Boy you're sure work in a devil's playground  ;D
Throw me in that Briarpatch...
My edc is my 642, and its endearing itself.

I had to take my SIG 365 in for FP replacement, It's the second time.
So, I decided to consign it, I liked the gun but mine was an Apr. 2019 born date,
 with the early teething problems.
If I were to get another SIG 365, I'd want one of the later production 2021 or newer ...

Congrats on the Kahr

I'm thinking a good thought... Del  :)

More sore this morning, the locals that are long lasting they did at the sites has worn off.  Rita still has a fever and will stay another night.  I have to run her teeth and charging cords out because she didn't take them.

"I didn't think they was going to keep me."

Dear always think they might and take stuff in case they do. ::)

Made up some cream cheese bacon wrapped jalapenos, and they are chilling in the Refrigerator.
I'll cook them today for lunch.

"SHE" does not like them, and there for feels I SHOULD NOT have them !
I on the other hand LOVE them and make them for me  :)
Frankly, my favorite snack ;D perhaps bacon wrapped little smokie's a distant second place.

The store's freezer dept. cheddar cheese stuffed jalapenos, of which "SHE" tried once to in force on me,
pale in any comparison to cream cheese bacon wrapped jalapenos.

Found this video if you're interested.

I first discovered my fondness for stuffed jalapeno's while in Texas on location.
They called them Armadillo eggs (the pepper was stuff with cream cheese no bacon wrap)
Later, at one of the NCOWS Texas Regionals, a caterer for the awards banquet serves
bacon wrapped cream cheese jalapenos. I was D.

I make mine much as this guys does, but without the jelly...though I think I'll try them next time with the Bacon Jam I get at the horse feed farm and ranch.

In the 80s, jalapeno poppers at restaurants were jalapenos stuffed with a mix of onion, cream cheese and cheddar.   They had been roasted to peel them, so they could be breaded and fried.   My father loved them.   He hated roasting and peeling the peppers and most of our homegrown ones seemed to not do well as they were thinner walled than what restaurants used.   During this time, I was in college, drinking more than I should and being creative for cheap food.   We "invented" peanut butter wontons because for some reason we had the wrappers in the house.   They were and are delicious.   I mentioned our invention to my father and he made what he called pepper raccoons as opposed to crab rangoon.   It is a wanton stuffed with jalapeno, cream cheese, scallions and some cheddar.   My lord they are tasty.   If you miss the 80s jalapeno poppers, try these.

Morg,
the breaded fried style can be had in frozen food dept. in grocery stores near the frozen burritos etc.
They are eh !  ::)  kinda what Jeno's pizza rolls are to good brick oven pizza.

Your Dad's, wanton stuffed with jalapeno, cream cheese, scallions and some cheddar, (I assume fried) sounds good.
I have a friend, who is half Korean, that uses a Fry Baby and makes wonton with ground beef, pepper & onions very tasty.
I on the other hand, use the flaky Pop'n Fresh Busquets dough (each cut in 1/4 ) then wrapped & filled all manner of ingrediencies with my basket fryer.
I've use Little Smokies or pearl Onions, or cream cheese.
Peanut Buter, Chedder, ground beef etc. when the Busquets dough is golden, they are cooked through.

I have yet to try frying stuffed jalapenos, that seems to be something on the to do list   :D

Hi Major,
Yes, cheddar or jack was added and they were fried.  Although, spraying them with non stick spray and cooking in a hot (425) oven does really well too.

We put all kinds of things in them, taco meat/cheese, refried beans/cheese, peanut butter, chocolate.   Also it was in the era of tinned biscuits, 10 rolls for $1.   We did a lot with those too.   Throw in Jiffy cornbread and that was our basic diet, with more carbohydrates coming from beer.

Funny, I switched to an anti-inflammatory diet 7 weeks ago.   About 3 weeks ago it was like the clock was turned back 30 years.   And have lost 15 lbs to boot.  As good as all of the above sound, I am happily resisting temptation to go purchase any of that.

Thanks for the good news that everyone was safe from storms. We had some good ones here last night, but no damage at Casa Deacon. Went to load some 45 Colt last night, couldn't find my plastic boxes for the ammo, kept looking and when I found them, they were full of loaded ammo! So I have plenty for the Alabama Shoot this weekend. Supposed to rain more tonight. Y'all be good and have a blessed Lord's Day.

I'm on the air, still doing some detailing.

Grandson mentioned one time recently he wished he had a desk top.  Rita's downstairs is 5 years old and never really been used and is a better, newer one.  Carried stuff up a little at a time and he took his today.

Just got one monitor on now, need to take time and zip tie the wires I got running around, eventually will have it set up with 3 monitors.

Good to hear Rita is home. And, everyone is safe from tornadoes.
There was a tornado warning in the county in IA where we were last night. Got rain and wind.
Got done with shooting yesterday just before the rain started.

Micah tried buying a rifle from Brownells today. Since he is 18, there is a 10 day waiting period, which we did not know about. So, he worked away empty handed.

When was the waiting period instituted for 18-20 year olds buying rifles?

I had a leftover Porkchop cutlet from last evening, so I warmed it up and had two eggs w/ my coffee this morning.
I usually don't have a large breakfast, less I'm out and do the Rodeo Diner once a month or so.

Normally, just coffee, with eazy-peezy bran flakes or maybe toast with bacon jam or on occasion oatmeal at home.

Guessers were talking on Sunday-Monday, 70% rain for today, but this morning has only said mostly sunny and 87% Humidity.
Doesn't alter my goings on at all, retirement is grand  ;D noting my weekly schedule once again.

Morning all, today's gonna be getting the van loaded and ready to take off tomorrow for Alabama State. Got most everything done, so it won't be bad today. Slim, I know how aggravating and insulting the 18-20 delay is, had to tell an active duty member the other day he was delayed because of it! The worst problem is not the elected officials but the entrenched civil servants who can't be touched and how they have been allowed to pass "regulations" without Congress' approval.Hopefully SCOTUS will finally slap down these agencies that do this all the time.

I'm glad I didn't put it off until tomorrow . Oh, I replaced my old riding mower with a new one, Just too old and out of shape for a  push mower anymore.
