A "quarantine" has traditionally been applied to the sick to separate them from the healthy. This is one of the few times (if not the only time) the healthy have been separated from each other. Since I'm a grumpy old man I tend to think there is more to this than we are being told, or the powers that be are admitting.

Pay attention to what IS being told.
Covid-19 is extremely virulent and communicable. All ages have been infected. Most devastating to high risk populations, with comorbidities. (Which means us.) Devastating to close quarters situations, such as Senior Care homes, cruise or Naval ships, meat and poultry processing plants, incarceration facilities, airline, subway and commuter rail and sadly, hospitals.
Because of the high percentage of asymptomatic cases, people could be running around infecting vulnerable populations even though they "don't feel sick".
Large event gatherings, concerts, movie theaters, restaurants, - you name it, have to be cancelled to keep the spread down.
There aren't enough accurate tests yet to be able to sample enough of the population in order to gauge "herd immunity", if that model even applies in the case of this disease.
Contrary to the musings of the Orange Idiot, this is not a hoax, it is not going to magically go away, and there is no vaccine nor wonder cure available nor in the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, as showing by the graphs and numbers, confirmed cases and deaths are still rising in the heartland.
If draconian social distancing measures had not been enacted, think of how much more terrible this would have turned out.

and contrary to some folks' poor memories, YES such quarentines and enforced isolation HAS occurred in the
past, as required, such as the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918 and various Polio and modern Flu epidemics.
We have become complacent because of the advances in modern medicine and science, the advances in detection and monitoring,
and the ability to forsee trends and rapidly respond with anti-viral medicines and vaccines.
HOWEVER this corona virus is so new, so virulent, and so deadly and with such a long incubation & contagion period and even Carriers that show no symptoms, like Typhoid Marys; and no known medicinals work on it.
And International air travel spread it faster than anyone except the epidemiologists expected. And they were ignored.
And the cruise ships became unknowing incubators and spreaders.
Quarantine and Lockdowns are literally the LAST DITCH LAST RESORT to stop the spread and the try to mitigate the DEATH RATE.
WE MUST STOP IT SOMEHOW BEFORE IT BECOMES THE BLACK DEATH OF 2020.

Cheapest gas I saw is a citgo station about a mile south of me at $1.999 for regular, most other stations are $2.059.Problem is, I have to use mid range gas in my Magnum which is $2.329 and that's across the river from me.

The Mayor of Gallop requested the governor invoke emergency powers under the state's Riot Control Act.

Yes, Del, we have hotspots and large bare spots within the state,- 5,008 total cases and 73 deaths so far. Fortunately many were able to fight the disease at home if they had mild enough symptoms, and only those critical needing to be hospitalized on ventilators.
It will be curious how the states will regulate travel as it opens up. How are they going to screen and enforce a requirement for people coming into a state to quarantine for 14 days?

Interesting times for sure....
We have our hotspots in Kansas as well. KC and Wichita and surprisingly Ford County in the west.
I live in southeast Kansas and in my county we have 1 case confirmed. Since we live in a rural area (my town's population is around 600) life goes about kind of "normal".
Work wise, my last field trip was in the beginning of March. All upcoming field trips, location filming are cancelled and from a new content production standpoint we are pretty much at a complete stop. My team located in OK and CO are all working from home and have so far had enough to do related to post-production and prepping content for digital use. So we are all at work and productive. Lots of Zoom and Online Team meetings naturally which has become the new norm.
An interesting topic is how working from home can change the way businesses and corporation look at the need for office space in the future. I talked to an individual the other day owning a lot of properties on the east coast, renting out office space etc... He is worried about corporations downsizing their need for space allowing more people working from home post the corona pandemic. I guess this is a small potato compared to the many challenges building up the economy for all of us.

My biggest problem is not that they ain't sure about things, but telling us this is the way it is and changing it, tell, me you are unsure and I'll respect you, tell me this is the way it is and change and I don't. Like the mask thing, no they don't work then don't go out with out it.
I got out today, wife and granddaughter ran some errands and wore their masks. Riley and I rode and sat in the car.
One I don't understand is I can ride the bus to somewhere if I want, then have to stand 10 feet apart in line to go in. Saw the handy van for elderly people still running today, we quit riding it before our pass expired because it did not seem like a good idea to us.
I can't buy bulk food which seems smart but I can buy Brussels Sprouts anyone has pawed over, I ask why that's ok and they tell me just wash them. With what, hand sanitizer? No now why is just water ok on my Brussels Spouts but not ok with my hands? And before this, hand sanitizer was not acceptable in food service, but now it is a miracle worker.
To much shit ain't adding up, I'm not going to wear a tin foil hat like some, I'm putting it down as we hired some damn dumb people to protect us from this stuff, how can any ordinary person understand what is going on with all the different stories, damn I hate to think of all the shit they are feeding our governors and such right up to the top.

Oh and it's a good thing I am retired because if I was still trying to keep a convenience store running by myself on a shift, I would have either been fired or would called the bosses and told them they had 15 minutes to get somebody out there. I had a reputation that 2 1/2 years for not putting up with BS. Banned more than one and refused to serve them later.
Get the hell out of my store and don't come back, I can be an asshole, cold hearted to, offered to take bets one night to see if a guy I refused to sell beer to would make it back across the street with out being run over, he almost didn't, not my problem since I didn't sell to him. Got very cold and heartless there, was the nicest guy you'd ever meet if you didn't try to screw with me.

former job, I was in on disaster planning and PR to the public. One Grizzled Senior guy told me:

I see the exact same thing going on here.
Panic caused the initial stock market problems.

IF you knew where to go, good data was avaialable, but confusing to the general public.
It was not until Dr. Fauci was brought out to report facts, and stayed out of "he said she said" blame games,
that we were getting good intel from DC.
SO... what works?
1) masks work - mainly because we can't identify carriers yet.
2) testing works - but until we can test everyone and quarantine carriers, isolation works at slowing the spread,
thus the "limited time isolation plans"
3) distancing works just by diffusion. The proof is how fast it spread on crowded cruise ships and the aircraft carrier.

One cough with folks spread 10 feet apart, not so much. With masks, probably no spread.
4) soap and water washing works
5) sanitizing works
regarding masks: why the change in statement? there are 2 reasons
1) Many Officials were Trying to stop panic and reserve scarce resources for first responders ( didn't work)
2) There is a Lack of valid clinical trials PROVING effectiveness of various masks in various situations, so
hardcore scientist still say "there is no hard proof"
#2 sounds stupid as hell, but some hard core science based MD's still hold onto that. Never mind that there are hundreds of
"really pretty good" studies, and manufacturors tests showing that 3M mask type blahblah N95 with an exhaust valve
can filter more than 95% of dust, bacteria, viruses, and particles down to "too damn tiny" .... That does not equate in the
hardcore rigorous scientific Medical MInd to a triple-whammy, double-blind, peer reviewed study across all four seasons
using 5 different kinds of test subjects with a test population greater than 1000 in each group and various population densities
and various social scenarios.
No I am not kidding.
Never mind that empiracle evidence demonstrates 80-99 % effectiveness if proper masks are used properly all the time
("vetted" empiracle evidence is valid enigineering methodollogy, btw).
Also never mind that most of APAC ( Japan, Australia, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania) and India use
a variety of masks and the mask users have a lower incidence of covid than non mask users.
So, simple reality is, Masks Work. You STILL need eye protection.
The first proven functional mask was in the late 1890's and was about 1 inch thick layers of tight woven sterile gauze.
for the general public, any mask is better than none.

Those molded dust masks you used in the shop or dusty fields or when spraying pesticides?
Those are N95 and work perfectly. They don't wear out, they only get dirty. And you can wash them gently by hand.

if you tuck it into your shirt and layer filter material in between, it works MUCH better.
AND You STILL need eye protection.
A cloth mask is as good as an N85-N95 mask if you put a filter material in between the layers.and if it fits.
Best filter material is the "N95 rated" melt blown fabric ((not woven)
you can tear apart a pollen rated hepa-type furnace filter and cut it up into inserts, they work great. Same stuff.
several layers ( 3 or 4 or 5) of "unknown melt blown fabric" works ok.
But unknown "melt blown fabric" is the current scam and price gouging thing.
If you have or make a cloth mask, make it with a pocket to hold the filter. The filter will be good
for easily 30 days, or until it gets smelly or nasty. Our mouths aren't exactly clean.
Both the mask and the filter can be hand washed, separately , Soap and warm water, be gentle .
Soap and Warm Water kills all influenzas and all covids icluding covid-19
Thus Wash Your Hands
Veggy Wash will kill it - wash your produce with Veggy Wash under warm water.
(basically Veggy wash is a "safe to eat soapy stuff" and vinegar and stuff)
70% isopropyl kills all influenzas and all covdid icluding covid-19. put it in a sprayer bottle and mist the surface.
If you want you can spray 70% alcohol on your produce, but that won't get the dirt off lol.
Common Store Hyrogen Perioxide works.
Diluted Bleach works. but it's nasty on people.
You can disinfect your mask by misting it lightly inside and outside with 70% alcohol or Peroxide.I do it at the end of my outside day trip"
DO NOT use 90% isopropyl alcohol - the 30% water content is necessary to "lice the cells"
DO NOT use wood alcohol, denatured alcohol, or industrial alcohol. those and their fumes can be poisonous and kill your liver.
Lysol Spray doesn't work as well as soap and water and rinsing.
Liquid Lysol concentrate works, because ,well, it is a "soap"!
We know the above because Mrs Marvel is a Dr.
microbiologist, cancer researcher, biohazard trained to lev 4, taught pharmacology, worked under a famous (now dead) epidemiologist.
And I happen to be well educated in hazmat and hazmat equipment. (still have my old NBC gear, and dosimeters )

There are no talking heads with the gravitas, the respect, like Cronkite, Murrow, Huntley or Brinkly.
How I long for someone of that calibre to emerge from the pack and lead. Return integrity and trust to the news services.
Both my wife and I have underlying health issues, but our greatest anxiety is for our one daughter and her little family that live in Chicago.
Professor, the mask I have been using is an N95 that has been my go to mask for sanding, etc. from my basement shop. It's a good 20 years old, and as you said, discolored with use and age. It gets gently soaked to clean now and then, but it still works. Early on, when the shortage of N95 masks was all in the news, I felt twangs of guilt being out in public wearing it.
There's a reason this pandemic is described in terms of being a war. It requires a total effort, complete sacrifice by all to see us through it. And like most wars, to quote the wise, people go into them thinking they're fighting to preserve their old way of life, but in actuality war changes everything and destroys the old way of things. This will happen in America and globally. Our economy is strong enough to recover, fortunately. Unfortunately there are many lost jobs that may not come back. But this chaos will open new possibilities. War always does. Seems every now and then mankind has to get shaken up, and adjust its priorities, and its outlook.
We all have to make adjustments. But I believe we have much to be thankful for, too.

I for one have ended social distancing...if I get the Chinese Virus I get it. People need to get back to work. The flu tried to kill me 2 years ago and failed. I ain’t letting this one dictate my life.

As I see it, this mess is made worse by people hugging both extremes like so many things from the beginning of time. I think this pretty well sums it up.
The Rules
1. Basically, you can't leave the house for any reason, but if you have to, then you can.
2. Masks are useless, but maybe you have to wear one, it can save you, it is useless, but maybe it is mandatory as well.
3. Stores are closed, except those that are open.
4. You should not go to hospitals unless you have to go there. Same applies to doctors, you should only go there in case of emergency, provided you are not too sick.
5. This virus is deadly but still not too scary, except that sometimes it actually leads to a global disaster.
6. Gloves won't help, but they can still help.
7. Everyone needs to stay HOME, but it's important to GO OUT.
8. There is no shortage of groceries in the supermarket, but there are many things missing when you go there in the evening, but not in the morning. Sometimes.
9. The virus has no effect on children except those it affects.
10. Animals are not affected, but there is still a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested, plus a few tigers here and there…
11. You will have many symptoms when you are sick, but you can also get sick without symptoms, have symptoms without being sick, or be contagious without having symptoms. Oh, my..
12. In order not to get sick, you have to eat well and exercise, but eat whatever you have on hand and it's better not to go out, well, but no…
13. It's better to get some fresh air, but you get looked at very wrong when you get some fresh air, and most importantly, you don't go to parks or walk. But don’t sit down, except that you can do that now if you are old, but not for too long or if you are pregnant (but not too old).
14. You can't go to retirement homes, but you have to take care of the elderly and bring food and medication.
15. If you are sick, you can't go out, but you can go to the pharmacy.
16. You can get restaurant food delivered to the house, which may have been prepared by people who didn't wear masks or gloves. But you have to have your groceries decontaminated outside for 3 hours. Pizza too?
17. Every disturbing article or disturbing interview must start with " I don't want to trigger panic, but…"
18. You can't see your older mother or grandmother, but you can take a taxi and meet an older taxi driver.
19. You can walk around with a friend but not with your family if they don't live under the same roof.
20. You are safe if you maintain the appropriate social distance, but you can’t go out with friends or strangers at the safe social distance.
21. The virus remains active on different surfaces for two hours, no, four, no, six, no, we didn't say hours, maybe days? But it takes a damp environment. Oh no, not necessarily.
22. The virus stays in the air - well no, or yes, maybe, especially in a closed room, in one hour a sick person can infect ten, so if it falls, all our children were already infected at school before it was closed. But remember, if you stay at the recommended social distance, however in certain circumstances you should maintain a greater distance, which, studies show, the virus can travel further, maybe.
23. We count the number of deaths but we don't know how many people are infected as we have only tested so far those who were "almost dead" to find out if that's what they will die of
24. We have no treatment, except that there may be one that apparently is not dangerous unless you take too much (which is the case with all medications). Orange man bad.
25. We should stay locked up until the virus disappears, but it will only disappear if we achieve collective immunity, so when it circulates… but we must no longer be locked up for that?

I’ve survived USAF tech school at Sheppard. I am currently sitting at DFW airport sipping on my first Guinness in 4 months and watching airplanes. I’m flying to Billings today, then I’ll be doing a 2 week “self quarantine” in the mountains outside of Bozeman. That’s about all from The Kid. I did graduate as Top Grad, so that’s kind of nice. For what it’s worth.

Biscuits and gravy this morning. And made some shortcake for the strawberries we bought. Basically biscuit +sugar and eggs. Trying to use up some of those little cartons of 1% milk the school keeps dropping of for the girls. Typical of kids, the chocolate ones are gone the first day, white milk takes a little longer...
Time for online church-hope the internet isn't too overused this morning. With the buffering, the 30 minute message stretches out to nearly 45 minutes or an hour. Or sometimes we just give up on it.

Yep son number 2 works there. We was hoping to buy and bring home. Casey works fully in garden center told us they go as fast as they come in. We may order one from there, we kind of liked the one they sell. Lowe’s and Tractor Supply said same thing. Local mom n pop store says the same thing.

My gun room/load space/man cave is very messy. I usually load ammo on the coffee table in the living room. ::)
We are in the sticks, so other dwellings don't effect our Internet speeds. But, others in my dwelling effect Internet speeds at times.

This is the neater part of my cave (Referred to as the Eclectic Den). The other other part is the reloading area in the garage. It is the appropriately messy part.

I'm in the process of moving my reloading stuff into my Basement/ Garage from the shed, It's warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Plus the shed is close to 30 years old and starting to fall apart. Now if I could get my son here to help me get rid of his stuff taking up room in the basement area I would be able to finish the move. ::) ::)

I use to have my Dillon strapped to a 2x6 then across a pair saw horses. In the kitchen/dining room area. I put it in the shed here it is too hot in the summer time and a bit cold in winter. We cleaned out a room in the house so I could do it here. However son #2 decided he did not like college and moved in there he moved out last fall and decide to store his things there. So back to square one.
My saddle is on the deck right now where I have been slowly putting it back together. It is okay there I have ran the brass tumbler there. It is easier to monitor. I don’t know about setting up a loading table. I think humidity might be a bit high.

Had satellite for sever years here in Reno. Once Fiber Lan was available I switched to it!
Got tired of going out in the middle of blizzards trying to keep the snow off the dish. In heavy snow or rain the signal would also drop or totally cut out. I haven't had a satellite dish in probably 14 years, so I don't know if they have come up with fixes for those problems. I'll defer to those currently using new satellite systems. I'm sticking to my 20 meg. rate on DSL.

I made it to Billings last night around 9:30. The airport left my bags in Dallas, so I had to wait until this afternoon to get them.
I am currently laying in the back seat of my truck in a Walmart parking lot in Bozeman. The place I was planning on camping is closed, so I’ll have to find a new place tomorrow.

Our Condo in Florida does not have the space we had back in Wisconsin so I had to downsize on my reloading area. I picked up a tool stand from Harbor Freight for under 30 bucks. I've mounted my LEE Classic Turret press to this bench via a LEE mounting plate system. I can quickly change between the LEE Turret Press and my MEC Shotgun press. This bench is remarkably sturdy and easy to move around.
Attached is a picture of my reloading area back in Wisconsin. My powder, bullets and misc. items were stored on shelves. I used to reload in a spare bedroom then moved to my garage. When I think about it now, mounting each press on a separate tool stand would have worked OK.

Well, here I sit in the Presby Hospital parking lot at 11:45 pm ... Mrs Marvel got what we thought was “another case of pamonia” ... turns out she has something else (not cancer) and they are going to admit her for lung surgery either now or tommorrow morning. Still total lockdown, so I can only visit by ipad from afar... good news is they are very good over here esp wrt to dietary problems & allergies and chemical reactions and all...
And she is of course afraid.
I am praying constantly to the Creator for her, and for the protection and salvation of the Blood of Christ.
And So I am humbly asking for prayers for her ...help her to be calm, alleviate her fears,, for her protection , for her healing and curing, and for the medical team that will be working on her, caring for her, and feeding her.

I was out to the hospital for Mrs Marvel delivering Gluten Free homemade biscuits, GF snacks, GF allergy safe yadayada..
I was allowed in to hand off the goodies, but first they had to be inspected by security. felt a little like a cross between
"The Andromeda Strain" and TSA. They itemized everything on a form and I signed it and got a copy, so nobody
is accused of theft & etc. Then they transferred everything from my "unknown" bag to one of their "Sterile Patient Transport Bags".
Which, BTW is good protocol when dealing with possible contagion AT A HOSPITAL.
The next further step with a potential biohazard like a virus would have been to "decontaminate" the stuff with alcohol or
peroxide mist ( or expose to strong medical grade UV lamps) prior to re-bagging, but they do not feel the need to be that strict (yet) .
I got to sit in the lobby wearing mask & gloves and chat with them and Mrs Marvel on the cellphone on speakerphone.
She is on IV antibiotics and improving already!

I tried something called Cloud eggs yesterday. It tested my culinary skills, presentation was a little foo foo. It did impress my wife. Taste well it was like a Sunnyside up egg, minus the fat to cook it in. Probably won’t make them again.

Yeah, i had stopped by the local smiths (aka kroger ) on the way home last night. they make a whole roast chicken I occasionally get for fast & healthy... usually they are about $7 - $8 ... and we usually have a “quarter dark” each for dinner with a veggy and rice.
Then I splice out the white meat & wing meat, slice and dice and marinade in teriyaki, and make a sort of chicken stir fry with a frozen mixed veg bag.
Well last night i was getting more healthy safe fruit cups for Mrs Marvel, and the good safe GF penut butter, and saw chickens. For $1.99 . Got home, and just devoured all the white meat first ( crazy, it was nice and juicy, usually not? ) then devoured all the dark meat. Standing over the sink. Chicken fat dripping off my fingers like henry viii
The two cats got some too. Then i drank a quart of water and fell asleep on my recliner.

She Tested negative for covid again.
After blood, sputum and cat scan they determined its an Ordinary non-cyst bacterial infection blob just floating around in the spongy lung tissue and no surgery needed. A culture Determined which antibiotic Would kill it.
They had her on iv wringers and broad spectrum antibiotic, and sent her home with a LOT more oral antibiotic. For a month.
Good, solid, aggressive treatment, with several followups.
By the book.
The stuff they have her on will kill the Black Plague, Tularemia, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. strong Stuff.

Posted this in one of my FB groups earlier. Got a lot of pats on the back of sorts for it. Something to think about because there are a lot of people out there putting up with a lot of crap and doing it for fairly poor wages. Just imagine if they all got pissed and said the hell with it.
I've had coffee, taken my meds and even took a nap and I still hate everyone just for the general principles of it.😡
Never have totally got over my congestion and cough after surgery but it got better, has been getting worse again and sometimes when I cough enough to get the congestion cleared I get light headed, all sorta normal things, been avoiding calling the Dr because I just knew it would be a hassle, Lexie has been after me about it so I called today to get an appointment. Since it's not a life and death emergency yet, tomorrow between 4 and 5 I go to Northstar high and get a Drive-Thru Woo Woo Flu test and in a day or so they will decide based on that if if get to go see the Dr or what other steps need to be taken.
What ever, I was nice to the lady who set it up, I joked and she sounded flustered so I made sure she knew I wasn't upset with her. She thanked me because a lot of people are.
So in this whole mess, don't get upset with the people who are just trying to do their job, they are under a lot of stress and may not agree with how things are going along but are trying to make a living. Probably a good thing I'm retired, I hated when the manager had to give me a talking to because somebody called the office and it's so funny we are both trying not to laugh. 😂😉

Insurance gives us free road service as part of the package, those pickup tires are big and heavy, cell phone is better than a farmer jack and cordless impact wrench. ;D

I was dragged kicking and screaming into the stupid smart phone some time ago, when work provided phones were switched to stupid smart only :(
It DID NOT come with a written instruction book. Only online help which required web access, which until the phone is set up , you don’t have.
I spent the first two weeks trying to figure out how to answer the damn thing. Turns out one has to put the finger on the red spot and swiftly drag it to the edge of the phone...
apparently this is called “swiping” which to me means “stealing” but is apparently intuitively obvious to the gen-x children doing the software now. Further garbage includes context based menus, which change depending on what yer doing, and features or switches buried in mAny layers of choices.
They are almost ok as Barbie and Ken sized-computers, butlousy as phones.
The S hit the Fan when Mrs Marvel and I were separated during her short hospital stay, and she couldnt consistently work her Stupid smart phone.
Worse, i had tried to set up the magic voice activated helper AI thing so she could just SAY call marvel and it would. Workedfine at home. Turns out the piece of sheiss requires internet to work! Great idea in an emergencyout on the road, or .... in the emergency room....
So today I pulled pin and bought a factory refurb kyocera cadence 4g flipfone for her , should be here in a week, and I ama gonna hack it to unlock it and force a sim card to work on our regular phone plan. It beats buying a diy educational android cellphone kit and building one, or forcing her into a cheapshit payasyougo burner phone.
The big boys like verizon need to realize they are losing a ton of money from the greyhairs that are happy to buy a flipper from The AARP magazine...
I will let you all know how it works out. These damn phones need to be “open to answer, close to hang up” easy.

I still have a trac fone flip phone, and as far as I'm concerned, it's still got TOO many functions. Don't need a camera. And if it just has to have a camera, can't they put the control button somewhere besides exactly where your thumb goes when you pick it up? Almost every time I open it, I have to turn off the camera. And on the opposite side from the camera button is the volume control. Can't they put that somewhere that's covered up when the phone is closed? If there is ANYTHING else in the same pocket, I'll invariably hear a constant 'Beep....beep.....beep...."with every step.
All I want from the thing is to make or receive a phone call, no camera, no internet, don't even care about texting.

I commend all you that hang on to the flip phone. I hang on to this iPhone 4 I think battery life is not as good as was a zillion years ago. I avoid updates. Because I am not smart enough to know what they are talking about. Heck Sod Buster had to show me how to use some of the features on this one. It is my PC /pad and or lap top. I never put a lock code in it. So I didn’t have to remember it. For the same reason I never sign out here on purpose. Well if the cops find it next to my dead body they win’t Need a forensic geek to get into it.
Heck I am all for bringing back rotary phones. 3 channels on TV. Movies house in every neighborhood.

My old work LG stupid smartfone was almost OK, but it suddenly went insane last October. I went to my Drawer Of Ancient Electroncs
(as opposed to the Box Of Ancient Electronics which has several 2002 Sony Vaio Laptops, the sources of my first FrankenLaptops).
I pilled out my old rubber armered Motorloa PushToTalk fliphone ( which still worked) and low and behold when Verzernone put a new sim in it it connected right up to our plan! I ran with that until January and got on the Xfinity Mobile Engulf And Devour Plan, with a new Galactic Express Bang Zoom really stupid smart phone. Which I am still trying to learn. And which I am trying to castrate.
Amongst the bad parts - it won't tell me I have a voicemail waiting!
The good part - it's a pretty good tiny computer, and I can set it up as an internet portal over the cell connection, and wifi connect the home computers to it, if/when the cable internet goes out. Have to keep it short , tho, so it doesn't eat up the entire plan data allocation. But that easy as long as you just use the web & don't try to stream a movie. And one has to remember to disconnect that.
It's also a pretty darn good hand held gamey thingy. And I can get to CAS City pretty darn well.

The camera on my phone is its one saving quality. It is at least as good or better than my Casio digital snap camera and always with me for grab shot.
I do like the ask Google voice applicated feature for quick info.
I still can figure how to delete the unwanted Tic Tok videos I keep getting.
To be honest, I like having the phone and I can't fathom how it would be going back to the dark ages of diel up or 2 party lines.

I get my phone service through my internet provider.
Not really a bad system, except that we here in FL. have regular power outages. This causes the internet to shut down. No internet, no phone! Plus, the internet has a tendency to shut every once in awhile as well. Perhaps, due to power outages as well?
I went up to the offices to pay my bill one time and to complain that when the Power went down, or the computer, I couldn't call them on my phone to let them know we were without service.
The reply was to use my cell phone to call them.??
My reply was... "If I had a cell phone, I wouldn't be paying them for the interrupted service they were providing!!" All I got in reply was a blank look.

Camera is awesome on the phone- they also have a compass as long as your battery is charged.
You can also download a free level app. Comes in handy.

I like my smart phone. I'm on my fifth one, about to get my sixth. The camera is 12 megapixels which is the same as an expensive (for me) Nikon camera I bought several years ago. My phone takes awesome pictures. It's like having a laptop computer in my pocket. When the War Dept. shops, I sit in my car and go on CAS City or check my emails or the weather etc.
If I call or email my kids, I usually have a two day wait for an answer. If I text them, I usually get an immediate answer. One of my pet peeves is having to listen to someone's phone conversation in a restaurant or public place. If I get a call, I take it in private or call them back.
Our pools re-opened this week on a limited basis. The War Dept. and I went this morning. The weather was beautiful. Tomorrow we are going to a beach south of St. Petersburg.

Central Ozarks Western Shooters was open for business today, , the fictional town of "Windyville" was out of quarantine. Did NOT shoot clean. Weather alternated between misting rain and humid sunshine, with one 15-20 minute "rain delay" when it came down pretty hard. After the rain, jokes were made that the brassers needed a pan to pan for brass out of the wet gravel of the street of Windyville. Hits on the steel targets were very obvious from the splashes from the bullet splatter in the puddles under the targets.

Had to change the belt in the wife's Singer 221K today, went and got a belt and Googled How to Change the Belt on a Singer 221K (If you didn't know, these are a Cult Classic and although not made for 50 years they bring about $500 in good shape.) Had to watch a 9 1/2 minute video that told me to loosen the motor (1 screw) to do this. Half the time was spent telling me not to scratch the machine and most the rest explaining if the belt seemed to short to make sure it's seated down in the pulley like it should be. ::)
We have to quit doing everything we can for stupid people, it isn't fair to those who ain't. ::)

Evening all.
Today I am writing from the comfort of a Holiday Inn room in Great Falls, MT. I've been here since Sunday evening, with yesterday and today filled wit Military stuff. Today I got to turn wrenches on a real plane for the first time, which was fun. Nothing super technical, but it still made me feel useful. I'll be here for 6 weeks, then I go back to traditional guardsman status.
I've gotten by without any Corona so far (though I still think I had it at BMT, but I can't prove it). Hopefully y'all are similarly fortuned.

Today's excitement included breaking a screwdriver in front of my squadron Chief, and banging my head on the flap control screw of the plane I was working on. So that was exciting.
Tomorrow is my last day for the week. I'll be spending the weekend probably in Billings or Missoula. I haven't decided which yet.

Suzanne had told me about a cowboy guy came into the store where she works was concerned why he had spurs on. Of course she did not know me in the first decade of this millennium. There is a few working cowboys in the area I have seen them as we pass by in the roadways.

Time means nothing right now except on appointment days which have been few and far for me. I nap when I want, sleep when I want, eat when I want, need to get back into a routine, should be about the 1st of june, hoping to start rehab again, they started with out me due to my cough and congestion. Had strip steak last night, burger tonight, will have to seak meat again soon, not as stocked up as I want, been cleaning out the deep freeze so I can defrost it.

came out a tish tough, but it's the first time I started with fresh pork instead of leftovers -

No carbs for me, just have to open a tin of some kind of meat adn catsup for breakfast
then pay bills, sign up Mrs Marvel for a Medicare supplemental,
and cut Sargent Schults' barrel then set up the minimill to square it off.

The gun was confiscated from the Gendarmerie ( Austrian Military Police )... Later the Allies rearmed these X Nazi Party members (V. Persons Exonerated) as police . It was called Denazification
Mr. Anderson was 19 years old and served in Austria nearly 2 years July 1945 - March 1947.

I am going to order one out next month, for under $200 ( less than the cost of an Italian Remington 1858) it will save my back & everything else!
It is only 88 pounds, so with a light plywood ramp I can get it up and down stairs, even if I need to use my boat winch or come-a-long.
It will also help with loading heavy crap into/out of the back of the Forrester!

Dang Little Brown Dog has been hiding in the corner outside and barking at the squirrels in the front yard. Rita got me a back door squirt gun and it "worked" well, little brown turd snuck in, grabbed it and ran back outside. ::) It don't squirt no more, was so funny all I could do was take pictures and video it. He has been so good the last few days I'll let him.

I had the honor of being the Production Designer / Art Director on the IMAX "Alamo the Price of Freedom "
The Alfred Yubarra designed 1959 set for John Wayne's Alamo was 26 years old had many alterations for many later film's and had fallen into major disrepair , mostly in ruin and rotted away.
I had the the opportunity to restore the foundations, walls, and iconic sacristy and vestries 35 years ago.
Here are the embodiment ...Wayne/Yubarra set & cast, My Set with cast ( including my Cameo ) and my Set today 35 years old today.
Still standing the test of time. :)

The nostalgia must be in bloom all over now that we're headed into Summer. I too was listening to this song this morning, along with the rest of my Marty Robbins greatest hits. Two reminded me of a friend and I at EOT modifying some of Marty's songs. "Big Iron" got turned into "Pig Iron", and "Cool Water" became "Cool Snapple" (that was what all the Vendors were selling), but you didn't mess with "The Ballad of the Alamo"! Getting up in the morning, the smell of the dew soaked hay, the sun just glowing as it rose, and these songs playing on the PA system in the middle of town. I was almost back there at Raahauges Range again.

Back from Cardio, doing good, do a lab in 2 weeks and then I'm free for 3 months, changed BP med on the one I quit, little BP part but still helps strengthen the heart. Hedi said I made a good call since it was only 2 weeks, not to go 3 months if I decide to do it again. ;D Weight is up a bit, about half way between post surgery and what I was in early March, told her I'm cooking again and eating better, she said it's not a bad thing either.
Royal PIA to get in the place, elevator operator was nice a nice lady. ;D Ain't seen one of them in over 40 years.

You were there for the hurricane the night you got stuck on the hill and you kept telling the young one the cabin wouldn't blow away with us because i said it was OK and me thinking that if it did she's never forgive me.
Were you there for the monsoon and the earthquake we did notice? Oh and the night it got to 40 in July and none of us had enough blankets cor clothes and most of us drank coffee all night, dang we sure must be dumb.
2010 it got 105. and we had no shade.

I missed the Earthquake Muster and the 40 in July one. Monsoon was the last one I got to, when we couldn't get up the hill to leave until Sunday afternoon.
Monsoon and earthquake were the same one, we joked about an earthquake on Sunday morning and then a day or two later we found out there had been one of those 3 point almost nothing ones they have up there every 3-4 years about the time the monsoon was coming down.

Made a great fresh garden salad from our salad plot. Added some fresh sliced red onion and green peppers and cubes. Boiled eggs from our hens and some leftover chicken breast. Need a good salad on occasions.
Rode to town earlier not a very good ideal. Took longer than planned. Nearly run out of Oxygen. Had another tank hide in back seat.
Del I took the dang steroids for 2 yers. Finally off of them. They really messed me up, including weird dreams.

Boiled a turkey leg with dried Minnestrone soup mix, plus added chopped carrots and mushrooms. Sage, dill, oregano and bay leaf. Simmered for the whole day.

I’ve been a bit on the busy side out here in the Big Sky Country. Currently I am sitting I. The back of my truck waiting for a thunderstorm to pass, outside of Seeley Lake, MT.
The past two weeks have been full of bureaucracy, red tape, and the occasional turning of a wrench on C-130s. I took this weekend to camp, before the next four weeks of 6 day training schedules.
Last week I adopted an orphaned revolver. An original Charter Arms Undercover. It’s in good condition, with just some holster wear on the finish. Locks up tight. I might put a coat of linseed oil on the grips when I get back home from Great Falls next month, but that’s about it. I’ve shot it twice now, with three loads. Hornady American Gunner 125 grain XTP HPs, Winchester 125 grain JSP, and Buffalo Bore standard pressure 158 grain SWC-HP. I’ve got the JSP in it right now, because I doubt the HPs are going fast enough to expand, and the BB honestly makes me nervous in such a lightly constructed gun.
I’m going to cook up some loads with 158 Kieths once I get dies.

Our Church re-opened today for the first time since the lockdown. Sensible precautionary measures were taken. We felt safe and comfortable at today's service.
My oldest Grandson is at Quantico, West Virginia for Marine Officer's Candidate School. We were going to drive up in July for the graduation ceremony but it has been cancelled in lieu of a private ceremony just for the graduates. I was really looking forward to visiting the base at Quantico. Things have changed quite a bit since I took boot camp at Fort Leonard, Missouri in 1959.

Quantico is located in Virginia just North of Fredericksburg. Near Woodbridge. I wish your grandson the best. I have had the pleasure of working and shooting with many jarheads from Quantico.

Got ambitious today, brother works 2nd shift and sleeps days and is hard to catch up with, wanted to go visit yesterday but he was at the farm. Anyway, I wasn't really worried but things got nasty about 1/2 mile north at the City County Building, some window breaking around, arson and looting, tear gas and all. Anyway I met him at his house when he got home and retrieved me six shooter. See him and the kids decided they day after I had surgery that since no one would be in our house to move my modest collection to his house to his spare vault. Anyway it's back in my dresser drawer when it belongs, long ago decided if I can't fix it with 6 it probably ain't gonna get fixed. Need to get the shop cleaned because I'm down to 24 rounds, may go out and see if I can find a box of 32 mag this week, ain't planning on needing it, but all the net gurus say no handloads, except one old phart I know who most know by name, some retired sheriff from SW Texas who says he is not aware of anyone being in trouble over handloads. But he also says there is nothing wrong with carrying a single action if you are good wit it. I think Slim will tell you I ain't half bad. ;)

I've heard the loading of magazines with Ball Ammo vs Hollow points version.... seems Lawyers would use Hollow points as more lethal pre-disposed intent or the use of Ball ammo less so.
Then there is the enterprising fellow that loads the Mag. with a Ball round followed by Hollow Points as murderous intent. :-\
I suppose, if you use a heavy caliber vs a lighter caliber a lawyer would argue predisposed mayhem ::)
