Hot Toddy for a Cold

Hey Del, what do have in your bag of tricks as far as a hot toddy for a cold?  I know you gotta have something.

I might be able to dig something up tommorow when I'm upstairs, for referance only cause alcohol don't really help a cold it makes it worse.  You just think yer better.

It's for Marshall...he don't care if he just thinks he's better.  Marshal'ette will probably set him straight on it.

My favorite is hot peppermint tea, with about a teaspoon of honey and a shot of whiskey added. May not cure anything, but you feel better!

Hot tea with honey and lemon. The honey will do more to soothe the throat than whiskey will, but whiskey is often added, maybe to help a person sleep. If at all possible, use local honey.

My ex mother-in-law used to keep a mason jar on the back of the kitchen sink. It had blended whiskey and honey in it and when she caught a cold, she'd add a heaping teaspoon of the stuff to her tea.

The winter after Will was born, I got about as sick with the flu as I've ever been. It dragged on for weeks. Since I was breast feeding, I didn't feel comfortable taking meds for it. Hot toddies with scotch saw me through it, and Will slept wonderfully!

Kind of what I came up with with a quick search, cup of hot water tea or coffee, shot of whiskey, rum or brandy and often some honey, sugar or molasses and/or a bit of lemon or vinegar.
